23 storey tower across the street from Burlington City Hall. Council just approved it this week, after being revised down from 27 storeys. I believe this will be a new tallest for downtown Burlington, and is the 4th major highrise in development in the downtown core. What is interesting is that the vast majority of units proposed are 2 or 3 bedrooms, and all very large. Quite a different unit mix than you typically see. Downtown Burlington is undergoing a bit of an urban revival right now, with 2 major highrise complexes under construction and another 2 in planning.

This video is from when it was still 27 stories:

This was approved a few months ago at 23 storeys at Burlington Council (somewhat surprisingly).

There has been a real NIMBY push back in Burlington as of late - the downtown is experiencing extreme growth with 8 different apartment applications under construction or approved in the downtown, and some more on the way. If they all get built it would turn downtown Burlington into a respectable little urban centre.

What is the total unit count?

So long as the NIMBYs don't get their way, Burlington is heading into an interesting direction. The development in downtown Burlington could potentially be overtaken by development at Aldershot GO and Burlington GO station areas.

The units are fairly large so it's only 169 units.

Burlington GO has the Paradigm buildings, which when complete will have almost 1,000 units. There is a big rental development in planning on the northwest corner of Fairview and Drury as well that will be sure to introduce a lot more density around the GO station.

Wow, a lot of iron in the rocks out there in Prince Edward Island, or wherever Burlington is.

A lot of the western GTA is like that. Mississauga and Oakville often have similar colours.

The area surrounding downtown Burlington was one of the most fertile areas in the entire province back in the day before it was all paved over as well from my understanding. Right up there with the Holland Marsh. There are a lot of small streams running through the area that make it extremely well irrigated and the combination of Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment create a bit of a micro-climate that moderates temperatures.

Construction update \r\nA major milestone at Gallery Condos + Lofts with over 100 concrete trucks, and 270 tons of steel rebar for the official concrete pour for the first floor slab.\r\n\r\nThis footage and filmed to Carriage Gate Homes \r\nThis will be a tallest building in Burlington ON \r\n

Burlington really needs the density dont get me wrong, but this is quite the embarrassment that's going to be put up right across the street from their City Hall. There's absolutely nothing special going on here, and it's as drab as it can get.

The podium is bad on all levels, the street wall is bland and monotonous, and the tower itself is a boring afterthought.
