Toronto First Canadian Place Rejuvenation | 298.08m | 72s | Brookfield | MdeAS Architects

Came across this G&M article from October 4th, 2012.
Anyone know whether it will be implemented (i.e. retrofitted)?

LED innovator shines with projects abroad

...
But it is his interest in innovation and creating new and useful lighting ideas that drives the private company, Mr. Grigorik said.

“I’m not an artist, but I like to work with artistic people to create special things,” he said. “I’m not that interested in money, I want to build a great company and create new lighting products that make the world more beautiful.”

To accomplish that, he has put together a hand-picked research and development team with the special technical skills that are needed in LED product development – electrical and electronics engineers, lighting specialists and, most recently, industrial designers.

His latest product was inspired by a challenge to outline in lights the 72-storey First Canadian Place, headquarters for the Bank of Montreal in Toronto’s financial district.

“Unfortunately, what they asked for wasn’t possible then,” he said. “So we took the challenge, and now, two years later, we’ve developed a solution that meets the project goals.”

The product, named Infinity, allows for long runs of high-powered LED lighting that will outline large buildings or bridges in a single run, unbroken by power boxes.

That would be fantastic. Now if they can just sort out the antennae on top and we'd have a complete work!

The lighting feature at FCP was completed months ago. I'm not sure if there is some sort of schedule for using it, though. I've personally never seen it lit up at night, only during the day, and close-up.

Can you wait a fortnight?

I've never seen any sign of it lit up at night either, no testing - nothing. Looking forward to this, I just hope they don't overdo it. I love the idea of illuminating bridges using LED lighting too, specifically pedestrian bridges.

A restaurant with a patio is going in on the Adelaide street side where the Fairtweather's display window was for years.

I don't know if this is where but the Cactus Club is opening up somewhere in FCP.

There are two things I like about this comment.
#1: It sounds like we're getting the lighting feature I was hoping for.
#2: It's the first time I've heard a Canadian say "fortnight". As a Brit, I usually get blank stares from most Torontonians when I say that word!

Is the lighting component substantial in size, or is it just that dinky lighting strip over the logos? I think some illumination of the notched corners of the tower would be great.

I'm watching Midsomer Murders right now.

The good-sized space upstairs in the food court area where the medical clinic and Piazza Manna used to be looks like the likely suspect. It would make sense to have a restaurant in that space. And it could possibly include that display window area.
