Toronto East Bayfront: Aitken Place Park | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

I visited last week and was disappointed by the extent of the shadow impacts from Aquavista. By 2pm half the park was in the shadow of the building. I assume things will only get worse once Aquabella is completed, the park will have both morning and afternoon shadows.

Looks like it turned out ok. I think though, in general, in these smaller parks, the playgrounds should be enclosed. It's easier to keep an eye on kids and it helps keep the dogs out. Nothin grosser than watching a kid crawl around on dog piss and I am certain that the trees that surround the playground will attract dogs as well as kids that wanna dig around dirt.

A couple from this evening.
Sort of like a rainbow light house.

That's really nice and I like it a lot. Wonder how it is on a sunny day, and if it's too bright for the residents nearby.

The art pice is pretty cool. It's rare to see something that works just as well in the summer as it does in the winter. While I love recent work like the dog fountain in Berczy Park, it does nothing for the park in the winter. We need more installations that not only embrace the night, but also draws people outside all year around.

See now that’s just cool. More things like that are interesting to the eye and are needed In the City. Light art, is hopefully a new trend. If done nicely like this it could be nice throughout the downtown area. Or sidewalk interactive lighting. Sorry, off topic now. But thanks posting the photos all. Great shots

Still looks neat without any water flowing.

Had my first look at the completed park and its down graded from what was plan and some for the better. Would had been there before now, but the ribbon cutting was cancel due to rain

When we dealt with the park in the early days of design, we had no idea what the walls or buildings would look like on either side and try to hope for the better for this park.

The plan was to use Corten for various walls, edges supports and at the top overlooking the dog area. We had great concerns with the rust washing off the material and leaving stains all over the place. Glade to see it gone.

The playground was never in the original plan as there was hope to have retail along that area with patio's and tables with chairs around the area. Sunlight going to be an issues as we fear.

Didn't have much time to fully view it and better off until spring when more floors are in place on Aqualuna at Bayside. By then, maybe more items will have been added, as it was still a rush job to get it open in Oct, compare to the plan Sept opening.
