Is this guy actually kidding me? Is there anyway we can get some news organization to follow him around for a week to see what kind of work he actually does?

This must be one of the easiest jobs on the face of the planet, get paid tens of thousands to do photo-ops around the clock.

So we are going to have 61 more LRT's? I thought we already ordered about 100 too many. Having 150+ LRT's that we will have to pay cancellation fees for....another Fiberal boondoggle.

Guessing we'll only have to pay $250M for this mess up. I guess it's better than the gas plants.

How do you figure that? Metrolinx is padding the cupboard. Doubtless they have an option on configuration for these. I've posted links above, here's some pics to look at: (Note the use of the term "freedom"...bit of a dig, and also the toilet option, these straddle being 'RER light' in the dual-voltage option run as "tram-trains" on GO electrified track as well as Eglinton Crosstown):

Frequency might be less. But on the other hand they might run one 160 foot tram more often than a train of two 100 foot trams. Saying that fewer larger trams means lower capacity in the absence of any real numbers makes little sense.

I'm talking about maximum capacity. The maximum capacity of the line should increase slightly with the Alstom trams.

In other words, if BBD trams and Alstom trams were each running at 90 second headway, the Alstom trams would be able to move slightly more people.
 
Any downsides to the Alstom trams vs BBDs?

I find myself hoping that Bombarider is unable to deliver the trams for Eglinton Line, as so far as I've been able to see, the Alstom Citidas Spirt offers a better rider experience.

None of this is likely to matter, since BBD most likely ordered the 30 metre model of the Citidas Spirit, which is the same length as the Flexity Freedom. However I'm hoping they ordered the 48 metre model, as that would be ideal for the Crosstown LRT

What have you been able to see exactly? I see a corrupt government agency ordering trains from a foreign company. Where does the increased comfort come from?

The max capacity would decrease with Alstom trains.

1. Underground portion of Eglinton should be able to fit a 2 set articulated BBD tram. Total 200 meters. But it won't fit a 2 set Alstom tram. So 40 meters lost.
2. The trains may be too long to fit into far side intersection stops on the surface section of Ellington and finch.
