I doubt they'll open in the summer because of all the TTC service changes that need to occur immediately once the crosstown opens, My guess is early September 2025, right before schools open.

One thing to keep in mind is that there will also be festivities. For the TYSSE, there was a fare-free day (I don't remember if it was systemwide or for that section only), memorabilia (a poster), and of courses performances, face painting etc at VMC station.

Reading the TTC budget (2025) which dropped a few minutes ago...........FWIW............. Line 5 opening is budgeted for July 2025.

totally love how this is now pushed to a Q3 opening date, just wonderful. If this line isn't open before Q4, that would just be miserable. At least have the line operating before school starts in September.

As noted in the Finch thread, the decision belongs to Mx, not the TTC.

The TTC's only requirement here is ~3 months notice so that schedules can be written and operators can sign up to operate the routes.

What Mx and the assorted consortia are up to........or not...........well........

Why do you assume it's any of these highly populist ideas? For as much as you know, they could be doing legitimate works, but MX is so secretive, we'll never know.

I think we’re all pretty apathetic now. What’s the status of the west extension? ML has no current info.

0% chance. That section is nowhere close to being operational. They just completed the tunneling, station construction hasnt even started yet. Not even talking about comms systems, OCS, etc.

And we havent accounted for the standard Metrolinx construction delay premium as well, so that section could very well be delayed in the future.
