Toronto CN Tower: Entry Pavilion, Plaza, Renos | ?m | ?s | CLC | Arcadis

From the Globe:

Towers modernized to ensure they continue standing out

Edgewalk is looking rather crude and gimmicky after that open air walkway at Space Needle.

Ditto the glass floor:

That's a proper reno; not that shack on the ground floor.

Ehh, not much beats having no glass between you and the city below.

To me that Space Needle floor is pretty tacky. The new outdoor walkway is definitely a huge improvement to the wire mesh they had before though.

2 glass floors now then - one looking down on the original

I'd avoid standing on that if you're wearing a skirt....seems like a really odd thing to add in.

The underside is one-way glass. Looks like a mirror from that perspective. No need to worry about creepers

It ain't, and it doesn't look like it will be. Haven't found the outdoor LooOut, thank goodness… but to get back to the new glass floor…

Yeah, I'd only worry if your shoes had jackhammers mounted to them, but no need to worry about what you're wearing otherwise. When you're on the lower outdoor level and you point your camera up, this is what you see: you, reflected, with the ground below.

People on that level have no idea that there might be people standing on that "mirror" above them:

Love it.

The interior is so, so much better now. You'll no longer end up being embarrassed bringing your out-of-town guests here.

Oh man, love that red stripe around the window... nicely mirrors the red stripe on the exterior roof of the main pod. Don't recall seeing that a couple months ago. Also I guess those red chairs mimic that in a way too. That restaurant window with the stained glass map is also a nice touch. Bright, bold colours are great.

What about the waiting area for the elevator down, I seem to recall it feeling a tad shabby?

The glass is very nice, HOWEVER do not go up there at night...you will only see the glare from the fancy coffee bars lighting in perfect reflection on the windows and nothing outside. Waste of money and a total embarrassment to my visitors.

Agreed. Something must be done about the relentless scourge of coffee bar light pollution, which swallows the entire nighttime cityscape in its unyielding and indifferent maw.

They use thermocromic glass in the new windows to avoid this
