Toronto Clear Hotel | 143.6m | 42s | Blutrich Holdings | Arcadis

...wait, this whole tower will be a hotel?

I'm glad a hotel is being proposed here, especially considering several notable redevelopments are to move firward in the coming years that'd remove large components of hotel space from the city, not very far from here. (The Marriott at 475 Yonge, and the Chelsea Hotel off Gerrard).
I think by the time this would be completed, by say, 2029-30, the hotel market should be much busier and requiring more competition/hotel rooms.
That being said, a few more proposed hotels outside if the core would be nice too, especially in our busiest nodes.

Why would TCHC want a micro-plate, difficult-to-construct, overpriced, hotel?

Agreed. I think it's too late.

It would have been much more interesting 5 years ago before TTC firmed up plans for their fan plant building at 830 Church.

Minor Variance application requesting the following changes:
  • Storey count increased from 38 to 42
  • Height increased from 124.1 to 143.6m
  • Total hotel suites increased from 172 to 192
No new renderings, the renderings currently in the database reflect the approved 38-storey design, but we do have black & white elevations of the 42-storey design:

And according the the CEO of Clear inc, this will be the "first Blue-zone hotel in North America":

Neither SPA nor building permits have been submitted at this time

FYI, blue zone...

...this is less flattering if one considers this is where dinosaurs and living fossils come to live. >.<
