Is the tint of the glass slightly different on phase 2 or am I seeing things
...I am assuming that's something to do with where towers are positioned on the horizontal in those shots. That is, Phase 2 seems darker than Phase 1 in the first shot and lighter in the last.

CIBC and Skytower both shot up quick in 2024!

Although this thread has really devolved into a discussion that is off-topic and likely belongs in its own thread; I will have to say that entering a construction site to post urbex photos like those posted earlier in the thread is a risk I cannot take myself, partially because my personality is not one to take a risk with heavy potential consequences.

Anyways, here are some photos I took of CIBC Square yesterday afternoon:

The signage installed on the building appears noticeably different from what was originally depicted in the renderings. Did they decide to go a different route with it?

These look great. Thanks for sharing. The shot from just north of Front there, just on the University offshoot, really shows how these fill in this vista.

Oh, okay. Thanks. I wasn't aware that they changed their logo.

That's funny. It was one of the most high profile brand refreshes in Canada in the last 10 years. They teach it in marketing school as the perfect way to do a successful top to bottom brand refresh.

That said... their 1985 logo was their best one.

:p

Well, I’ve been living outside of Canada for the past 18 years, and it’s only in the last few days that I’ve started reconnecting with Toronto’s architecture scene, so understandable that I missed the change. 🤷‍♂️

Oh, okay. Thanks. I wasn't aware that they changed their logo. That's unfortunate. We have this stunning, grand, and exciting tower, but it's paired with this small, rather dull signage. Oh well.
My unsubstantiated theory on the logo/signage is that eventually this small signage with the CIBC + the diamond Icon will be replaced by larger versions of just the diamond icon (sans wordmark). But first they need to build the brand recognition of that icon meaning "CIBC' to most people, as opposed to getting mistaken for the Renault logo or something else. And I'd say building that brand recognition is something CIBC are very much working on, as the wordmark and icon pretty much always appear as a pair, never independently, to keep building that mental association between the icon and CIBC. Now, who knows how long it takes to generate that level of brand recognition, but I wouldn't be surprised if eventually there are just a bunch of diamond icons on the top of these towers, as opposed to the current signage.
