This fellow seemed to be the all-knowing lead on the current frontage final work on Phase 1. Here are some tidbits....(pics taken this afternoon). He was excited about the staircase (seen in the reflection here), which will have LED lighting along the railings and fancy stonework all the way up.

He estimates about 6 more weeks to pretty much wrap things up along the sidewalks, landscaping, entranceway. There were some unexpectedly shallower conduits/elements (he had a fancier name for them), which precludes deeper planters for larger trees out front. But there'll be plenty of shrubbery. And the grey piping sticking up are for upcoming street light standards to line Bay.

Phase 2: Will involve 5 cranes, and going down 5 parking levels at the east end (shallower west side), and the tower will cantilever over the railway lines...

East side....

One tenant has moved in...so the lobby seems to be more or less 'open'.

Amazing pics @skycandy!

I've always wondererd about heating pipes, does anyone know what happens when they need to be replaced? More specifically how do they replace them? It looks pretty intricate.
You dig them up and replace them. PEX pipe in a stable environment with no UV exposure could last a century though. By then, with global warming, we won't need to heat our sidewalks, or you'll drop a few nanites in the glycol mix that will crawl down and repair the leak.

Something is a little off with the Square on the bottom one.

Edit/Update: Oh, I'm seeing it from its corner...giving me the impression it had 3rd sets of diamonds instead of 2 on the Eastern flank. So NM then. :(

The Yonge St parking entrance should be done soon as the under bridge concrete resurfacing portion seems complete.
Maybe they will finally remove the graffiti along this ramp and hand the problem over to the next party. They had 24 hour supervision at this entrance for months. My two pet peeves; graffiti and skateboard damage.

Great views, thank you! The Yonge Street entrance/exit to/from the parking looks to me like a nightmare as Yonge is a busy street and getting into and out of it will be difficult at rush hours; I guess we will see!

Metrolinx says the abutment work will last until end of May.

" Yonge Street abutment work continues overnight between Lake Shore Blvd and The Esplanade until late May. This work is part of the 81 Bay Street Overbuild associated with CIBC SQUARE construction work."
