The Toronto bus station is an embarrassment to the city! It's getting busier and busier thanks to our substandard rail service.

Coach buses won't be replaced with trains anytime soon. Many of them serve towns that have had their tracks ripped out and new highways built. The government has been stacking the deck against intercity rail for a long time.

Oh...I see that you were talking about GO buses. Never mind.
 
Exciting news. A bus terminal at this location would be supremely awesome, and in combination with a beautiful building we'd nicely fill in a rather large gap in 'east' Southcore.

As for the lots up on Bay N. of Dundas, huge opportunities for development there. Sadly, right now the current terminal and surrounding area is a bit of a blight when walking up Bay St. Developing it nicely would bring a lot of continuity to that strip.

Though I certainly agree a move of the Dundas bus station to this area would be a great idea it can hardly be called "news" - it has been rumoured for about 3 years and nothing concrete (or even official) has happened.

It's nice to see Montreal still growing and improving. Toronto needs Montreal to be nipping at it's heels and challenging its role as Canada's premiere city. Competition between these two great cities is a good way to motivate them and keep them thinking ahead.
 
Quebec is too wrapped up in the language/identity issue to effectively deal with Montreal's slow and painful slide. At one point, decades back, it played host to more corporate headquarters than Toronto and was a vibrant town. It's still got pizzazz but the political landscape is utterly toxic. The spectre of yet another referendum will further derail any forward momentum that's trying to get a foothold there.

That said, it's nice to see some new residential and office developments in the core there. It's about time.
 
Enough about Ivanhoe Cambridge planning another development in Montreal in this thread. Any more discussion of that in this thread will be deleted.
