Toronto Burke Condominiums | 163.4m | 53s | Concert | Arcadis

Taken 2 January. Noticed that there will be an alley on the north side as well as the fact that the heritage house is not integrated into the building. Finally is the little entry structure on the north side a new entrance for the subway?

As a frequent user of Sherbourne subway station, I haven’t heard of any plans for a new entrance or seen any work to create one. What the station needs is an entrance on the west side of Sherbourne, but that won’t happen until one of the buildings on that side is redeveloped.

This one just looks like another classic Toronto bait and switch- a render that appears to promise curtain wall then the developer simply delivers the cheapest, option. Recent trips to Montreal, Sydney and Melbourne showed that material quality is much more the norm elsewhere.

...the quality here is close to what I expected it to be based on the renderings. Can't really expect the spectacular when the design of the thing has been mediocre to begin with, IMO.

Sure. But isn’t it sad that we generally have such low expectations in this city? Curtain wall in the areas as depicted in the render would have elevated a mediocre design.

High expectations where dashed when they signed off on the current design here...

...as for the quality of cladding, sure. But I knew from the renderings that there would be a high probability that we'd get the cladding we see now. My only caveat here is that it could of been much worse. And as I said before:

Functional maybe. Certainly not pretty...

Yesterday from Huntley and Isabella - adding to what I think is a pretty interesting point of view on this cluster of buildings.

Looking like pure shit. Reminds me of the crappy effort at Wellesley and Sherbourne. Makes you appreciate what Tridel has done in the area along with the nice rental next door.
