Interesting comment regarding the white blind effect. What would be your preferable alternative? Use whatever colour you want? How about tin foil? Go look at the Crossways to see how attractive that is!

it's pretty simple actually, you match the blind colours with the colour of the exterior glass. that way it blends better.

To the contrary, I'd have no issue at all if he came out and said he didn't like it or whatnot, he's entitled to that. For instance when I replied to thedeepend it wasn't his opinion that I was arguing with at all(his methods are another thing). Mainly I felt his post was misleading people into thinking the cladding on the tower will be greenish when it won't be, that is all. And clearly there are people here who just go by what other members are saying rather than analyzing it for themselves. I just find that kind of herd mentality to be sad.

Instead of worrying about the drapes and blinds, why can't we just use more reflective glass ala office buildings - Telus House, Sun Life Centre, 145 Wellington. Residents would probably appreciate the extra daytime privacy too.

I would far rather see blinds than mirrored glass. Blinds show there is life in the buildings, mirrored glass sterilizes all of that. I'm not against some reflectivity on the glass, and I prefer it in fact, but I don't want to see all signs of life blanked out.

Why has Yonge always been such a dead zone for mid rise/high rise buildings in downtown? It's perplexing considering how important Yonge is to North York. I hope when development finally does come this way, not every house/small building is preserved. I want the focus to remain on the true heritage gems, and on creating a nice tall street wall.

Yonge Street downtown has worked quite well for over a hundred years and still does today, just look at the photo and see all the happy people or take a walk down and observe. I'm really getting tired of this tear down/build highrises everywhere rubbish on Yonge Street. See what FIVE is doing, and maybe focus efforts on revitalization and restoration of what's left of the street? It's a foolish planning mistake with what's happening and a skyscraper geeks wet dream of seeing crappy high buildings everywhere. See Aura as evidence.

Vegeta_skyline, I could write a book in response to you're remarks. But I'll try to keep it brief.
Firstly, it's obvious you haven't read any of my posts or you'd know better.

My response is, you don't have any say on whether I’m entitled or not.
This isn’t part of our discussion but I’m dying to know, is Senior_UT_Member your official title or did you make that up for yourself? Be so kind as to respond.
Back to the issue at hand, I indicated that "I've only seen Aura at night over the last few months, however, I'm waiting for the other half to be completed."
At this point I’m withholding judgement. But I'll step out on a limb here and say I just love the renderings. Oh, so exciting to express myself. free at last, free at last. (this humour, just in case you don't get it)
I stated "but from the posts I'm reading, it doesn't sound promising."
This is in deference to THOSE who have seen the building & retail during the day, they’ve indicated that it looks cheap.
Finally, in my original post I said the following:
"I think its more important than ever to get the Gehry & casino projects done."
I do believe that is an opinion, would agree vegeta_skyline?

Its nothing that exciting. UrbanToronto automatically places that designation under a users name once they reach a certain number of posts. There are designations beyond that such as ’lives at UT’. I have no idea what number of posts are needed to attain any of those levels nor does it interest me.
And thank you for expanding on your previous statements in regards to Aura. Though there is an opinion of yours that I completely disagree with...
Because one large scale project does not necessarily meet everyone's expectations, does it suddenly becomes vitally important that another project rises up to counterbalance it or fill in some supposed void?
Did New York suddenly become less of a city when the Met Life building(then called the Pan Am building) went up in 1963? It was initially hugely unpopular and even derided as an ugly behemoth by some. If so, then it must of been very difficult for them to wait almost a decade before another grander and more highly regarded project, the World Trade Center(s), gave it back what it supposedly lost when the Pan Am building went up. I don't think so. And in a city with more than 140 buildings currently under construction, Aura is really just one small piece of a massive pie. Its not going to make or break us(imo).
Also, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this - most people here will be pleasantly surprised by how the upper section of the tower turns out.
Fell free to call me out if it doesn't happen.

Totally agreed... No building going up in town has more to show than Aura... It will be markedly different this time next year...

Thanks for replying in that insulting tone, it is very appreciated. Placing your opinion high above mine, and dismissing what I said, because you view me as a "skyscraper geek" really wasn't necessary. Anyhow, you missed my question completely.
