This is what angles do for the urban fabric.

It creates a visually interesting and inviting space. Makes pedestrian friendly spaces by necessity. Creates a distinctive and attractive location. And increases the sense of urban-ness and density by breaking up the streetwall and endless street canyons.

In general it’s just a much more welcoming and less imposing space, that doesn’t fade into the background amongst endless monstrous and oppressive buildings.
 
I hope that they have something interesting for the ceiling of the open space.
