Funny to see the secondary plan staff cooked up for Yonge North is basically toilet paper now that the province has allowed for needed growth to occur via OMB appeals. Wonder how much hair pulling is going on at city hall as their dreams of midrises to Barrie falls apart
From the latest submission it seems like they're going for 16-storey midrise. I would guess that the two tower design had little/no chance of winning at appeal and that the one tower design was less efficient and not tall enough to win out over a quick & easy 16-storey concept. One tower certainly justifiable here but the two tower scheme was always very aggressive on the rear setbacks.

Changes from the resubmission summarized in the table below (note that this is 17-storeys due to indoor amenity in the mech level)

I’m years late to this but dare I say this is actually a big step up from the usual work from this office. I actually think there’s some cool ideas in this. Shame it’s changed to the latest scheme which isn’t very interesting.

Wow a wedding cake shape design I actually like. The curves, stepping motifs and the black-on-white look good.
