Gairloch Developments have assembled the KFC site at 415 Mt Pleasant and the commercial site at 405 Mt Pleasant.


Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment Application to permit the proposal for a 9 storey mixed use building and three, 3 storey townhouses. The new mixed-use building would be predominantly used for seniors¿ care and living, and is comprised of 8,822 square metres of gross floor area, including 325 square metres of ground floor retail/community use space, 325 square metres of office space, 68 memory care suites and 18 assisted living units.

Interesting to see Gairloch shift gears from the standard condo building, to having a seniors focused living project here instead. Makes sense, the location and market is fitting for it.
 
I believe Gairloch sold this site last year to a smaller group focusing on assisted living.

A piece of historical trivia about North Toronto and the former prevalence of business incorporating the word Hudson, as seen above - Hudson Plumbing Supplies, Hudson Movers, Hudson Shoe Repair, and so on.

Back in the day, telephone exchanges were very much geographically, and they also had mnenomic names. The North Toronto telephone exchanges were all 48x-nnnn, for example 481-nnnn,...486-nnnn, ...488-nnnn. The initial two digits, 4 and 8, were alphabetically denoted as HU, and their mnenomic name was Hudson. So a local North Toronto number would be called: Hudson 1-nnnn, or Hudson 6-nnnn. A number of North Toronto businesses, such as Hudson Plumbing Supplies - seen above - adopted Hudson as part of their name to identify themselves as local community businesses.

This practice was not unique to North Toronto - there are many examples across North America of businesses - especially those dating from the mid-twentieth century decades - incorporating their telephone exchange mnenomic as part of their business names.

"Looks like the Seniors' Care building is no longer happening. Greenwood College School purchased 405/415 Mount Pleasant Road this summer. We've been told by a neighbour that they plan on building a rec. facility (possibly?) at that address. Do you know anything about this? I don't see any applications on file with the City. Thanks!"​

Has anyone heard anything in this regard?

I guess this is what happens when Councillor Jaye Robinson doesn't want to accommodate the built form requirements for a LTC facility. Shame...although great for the 50k/year/kid private school that needs more green space.

Hopefully that crew can afford proper grass sod and not the plastic surfaces I have seen at places like Earl Beatty JPS
