NiagaraDev — Brewery & Boutique Inn

While it will be some time before craft beers begin flowing from the taps of a new craft brewery and boutique hotel in Crystal Beach, the proposal moved a step closer to becoming a reality after town politicians unanimously approved the necessary zoning changes that would allow the project to move ahead.

Proponents Doug McBride and property owner Chris Hawkswell have asked for zoning changes that will allow for a four-storey, 28-room inn to be built on the site at 4002 Erie Rd. The current zoning bylaw for the area allows for only three storeys so an exemption was needed to accommodate the project’s height.

The proposal was unveiled at a public meeting in August.
While approval was granted, it did come without some reservations expressed by the councillor representing Crystal Beach.

This has been on the shelves since zoning was approved in Fall 2021, unfortunately. There's been some tweaking with the overall design, but ownership is in no rush to go to SPA until they're at a point where it makes financial sense to build. It may not be a micro-brewery once all is said and done.
