City staff are recommending approval of an 8-storey, 109-unit building with ground-floor retail, along with relocation and restoration of a heritage farmhouse.

The site is just south of Queen Street, between two commercial plazas on the north and single-family and semi-detached houses to the south, so this is decent infill in an area with decent transit and not far from downtown.

As there hasn't been any marketing of this site so far, I suspect it's purpose-built rental.

I'm usually one to advocate for heritage preservation, but I struggle to see much architectural or historic value in this one. It's in pretty rough shape inside and out with relatively few interesting features. I'm wondering if the money spent on moving and rehabbing this one wouldn't be better spent on something else. Maybe a community garden as a nod to the site's former use as a farm?
