Dodging overflow QEW traffic on my way to 'The Poacher' and I happened to notice that the tenants in the commercial plaza are now all gone and every store front is boarded up. I presume then that we may see some further demolition and maybe even site prep?

Oh that's wild, I last drove by there mid July and it was business as usual, a fully functioning plaza

Yes. I'll have to plan a couple of stops at JC's in the next few months to see if anything develops......

But this is a problem in Oakville and Burlington (and most likely almost every where else). Developments approved and ready to go, but no shovels....Burlington has over 7,000 approved units, Oakville over 11,000. Without going into depth I would assume that the underlying problem is $. but related to what is proposed to be built on the site. If you were to take the majority of these sites and reapprove for rental, geared to income, co-op etc and actually build, you could see some positive steps being taken to address those struggling to get into the housing market i.e. the lower to lower middle $ spectrum. I am not worried about the higher end at all, cash is not drying up, that end of the market will fix itself. But I am not sure the goverment actually listens or is interested in actually moving this needle at all.

I was headed into town for conversation and a decent cappuccino, stopped for fuel, and happened to see the boys hard at work. Phase Two of demolition, with some heavy equipment arriving on site as well, so perhaps they proceed with shovels in the ground? If the renders prove accurate, then this would be an interesting add to this section of Burlington.
