Hope they'll replace it with something nicer !

Last pic before I left Yonge Street.

They were disassembling the billboard when I left. The crane was up ... Too tired to stick around. Will get pictures tomorrow - Yonge blocked off between Dundas and Gould.

Night 2:

Trucks are back again to finish the job. Don't think we'll see a new billboard until at least next week. At best we get a partial new billboard tonight or tomorrow night. I will update when that happens.

So im over at 10 Dundas Sept 29

Looks like some type of combination signage which sucks - might be backlit

Still have 7/8 of space left

Digital Signage

Could still end up with a combination. But this is good. We always thought this area would get more digital, so it may finally be happening now.

The second floor retail unit that once contained the Future Shop has been leased by TJX Canada
Well that's a waste of space, there's already a Winners and Marshalls within a 200 metre radius of this site. The only thing that would make some kind of sense is a Homesense, but that would be odd with the Winners and Marshalls which have a wide selection of those kind of items.

That's unless TJX Canada is interested in eating into it's own market.

The nearby Homesense on Yonge is way too small (and always busy!) and would have been a better choice than a Winners.

There's also HomeSense at Yonge and Queen, and another Winners in Scotia Plaza. I'm thinking it's because of how busy and successful the Winners on College is, maybe they feel they can be successful here as well, especially with the increasing density in the area. Also, College Park and 10 Dundas geographically are very close together, but seem to be very different in the people who shop there.

The HomeSense at Yonge and Queen is in a much larger unit than this space. That said, it would be really nice if it were a bit larger.

The property managers of this place continue to miss the point. And it's standing right in front of them. The restaurants at 10 Dundas East do spectacularly well. Retail, not so much. If you look at the lineups to get Yonge-Dundas Square facing seating at the restaurants on the top floors, it's clear that they have a gold mine in any windows not yet being used for this purpose. The windows that FutureShop so terribly wasted by backing TVs on to it is once again going to go to waste.

The FutureShop space should've been broken into 2 or 3 restaurants opening into the escalator well. It would've been a great opportunity to fix the cheap atmosphere and the wasted space around the escalator landing. You should get off the escalator and be in a common lobby for those 2 or 3 restaurants, even if you're just passing through.

This is an entertainment complex, not a mall. 10 Dundas East is never going to be able to compete with one of the world's best known malls that's right across the street.

There are some retail complexes that have threads in both the retail forum and the buildings forum. Talk in the retail forum is supposed to be about the stores, and in the buildings forum about the architecture, interiors, etc. It doesn't always work out that way.
