The Junction

How can they be renovating a brand new place?
It's a great question!

I seem to have no luck with places that say they're open but are in fact closed. Third time attempting to try the gelato at More Gelato & Caffe - last weekend they were closed with the flu, reopening by Friday. Today I went back and they're closed till January...

"The Coffee" in the base of Junction House condos (2910 Dundas St W) still "coming soon."

I mean, they opened a gelato place in late October...I fear they're not long for this world 😆

I didn't try them but walked by that gelato place a couple weeks ago and they were open and saw some customers in there. Hope they have a really friendly lease situation going on with the landlord there.

I do hope they last. The gelato is actually quite good, and they have some unique flavours.

Also, they get extra major brownie points for complimenting and inquiring about my tights both times I was there ;)

The Tims mentioned above is now open

They're still working on the siding on that building but in the window it says a medical clinic/family practice is coming soon. "LUSO Medicine" is the name.

I drove by what was formerly the KN Rubber manufacturing facility at 35 Cawthra, and found that it is now a pile of demolished bits. I wasn't able to look too closely, but at the very least the part I've highlighted below was gone. It's possible the whole place is gone, but I wasn't able to get a clear view.

It's had a demolition permit since May 2025.

Interestingly, a quick Google search indicates that (at least as of 2021) the site was owned by Dunpar Homes, who were lobbying to have the Core Employment designation of 35 Cawthra changed to allow for light commercial-industrial and residential uses (see attached document from the Keele-St. Clair Local Area Study - Directions Report in June 2021). Based on the adopted Official Plan Amendment, it appears they (at least partially) got their wish.

Yes, I've passed by there a few times and that whole facility has been demolished for at least a couple weeks now. Was really surprised to see that at first.
