Teens pushed on to subway - Closed?

In Transport the "Teens pushed on to subway tracks at Dufferin" was closed due to objectionable material (which is cool, it is the moderators job to moderate), but I am curious as to what was considered so offensive as to necessitate closing the thread. I have seen more objectionable stuff posted, but the thread was left open - maybe with the odd warning so that we know which line should not be crossed. In this case, I am not sure exactly which line was crossed. Could you elaborate?

For example, I found the idea that Obama only was elected because of affirmative action by white voters to be more offensive than anything in this thread.

You're right. There haven't been many mods on duty lately and I've stayed out of Politics for the past few days.

I understand the reasons it was closed. How would I have handled it differently? I would have deleted the posts that were objectionable, and warned the offender.
However if the offender was new, I might just outright close his account.
