Can anyone fill me in on why the subways seem to be pausing so frequently at Christie (eastbound) and Ossington (westbound)? Is it just my imagination? Seems to happen on a high proportion of trips now.

Just curious.

It's a timing point to ensure the trains are running at the intended frequency so you don't get bunching. If every train proceeded without these timing points, you'd get serious bunching issues approaching the busy stations. This is just spacing them out so this doesn't happen.

I figured it was something like that. But sometimes the delays seem a little long.

Pausing can be found at many station today than the 2 noted ones. Keele and Royal York are the top 2.

Crew changes were at one time at Royal York for the west end, but can be found taking place at various stations today. Keele is more the main one now.

Between the pausing and crew changes, I'm spending an extra 12 minutes to go from Yonge to Islington at times. This can be found for off and at peak time.

There is pausing in the east end also.

The pausing is to maintain the headway between trains.
