Tim Reardon, General Manager of Sheraton Centre Toronto, tells blogTO, "As we were working through the largest transformation in the history of the hotel, we uncovered this unique artwork."

"It's such an iconic part of the building and really provides a retrospective look at our 50-year history in Toronto, so we are leaving it exposed for the time being and are hoping we will discover even more about its origin," says Reardon.

Utterly mind numbing/no personality . So they took something that was dated but stylish and replaced it with this? Now it just looks like a run of the mill boring Holiday Inn. I used to enjoy walking through that lobby. Now? Why bother.

At this rate, Toronto will have destroyed every last remnant of 70s/80s architecture/design before the decade is out. It's one thing to lose beautiful stuff for other beautiful stuff but they're replacing it with utter rubbish. Building after building after building is being destroyed by people with no sense whatsoever.

And then people act puzzled when the city is ridiculed for being boring and having no style.

No, they should really restore that. Not every square blank area along the PATH should be reserved for ads. Sometimes there should be spaces along the way to stop and smell the roses, IMO.

Ok.....I guess I'll put this here.............

Amir Remtulla has registered .....

^^^ What does that mean?

I may have something.............ya guilted me into digging around.........this is from 2020, but it sounds on point.

This is a request for a lease extension (The City owns the land on which the Sheraton sits) from 2068 to 2108.

The report was adopted by Committee and Council.

So I'm unclear what is being negotiated at this point (if it's related to the original request)

The terms are rather interesting............
