Rob Ford's Toronto

I'll try to figure out the discrepancy. The Sun's account sounds more plausible but the judge revelation does fit with an account from months ago about members of Toronto's powerful upper class and sports personalities/athletes being clients. I have a source with a Mohamed Farrah connection who would give me a definitive answer but I haven't been able to get a hold of them for some time.

Clients of whom? Dealers, escort agencies?

That was my reading as well.

The underlying narrative here is that a drug dealer got Mayor Ford, who was in "a drunken stupor", to smoke crack and recorded him doing this so that he could later be extorted. The terrible things he said were just Ford playing along with someone who was goading him, and not his own thoughts or beliefs. That story relies on the reader believing that the crack smoking was a one-time misadventure. It also means that the reader has to overlook the fact that the mayor was in "a drunken stupor" and was hanging out with crack dealers.

I also recall reading somewhere (maybe Crazy Town) that Rob lit the crack pipe with practiced ease, which belies the contention that it was a one time thing.

Rob Ford paying his own way to the mayor's conference in Ottawa...

...So only millionaires need to run for mayor or councillor? If you work for someone else, you cannot be on city council because you'll dare to use an expense account?

How dare you accuse Robbie of being part of the 1%!!! He is not part of the 1% because he only hangs around with "blue collar" and "common folk", I know so because Dougie vouched for him. ;)

What I like about the Dougie scrum is that he dropped rhythm when told him that "streetcars" are actually LRTs, but the best was Dougie saying he has no idea of Robbie's whereabouts, he's just his brother, and then asked that isn't he Robbie's campaign manager.

Chinks are forming in the Dougie armor.

Doesn't matter if he was goaded into doing it, he put himself in a position where this kind of blackmail was possible

You know this, I know this, most of this board knows this - yet for some reason there a lot of people who seem to be accepting the "drunken stupour" excuse.

What I was thinking is that perhaps Nordheimer found it particularly difficult to watch because he had recognized a colleague. Wasn't there some mention of his seeming personally affected by watching?

This x10000. That makes perfect sense.

The tone of that article is absurd. First sentence: "The man who orchestrated the infamous Mayor Rob Ford crack video used the same cellphone camera to record a second, shorter video where he gloats over his achievement, sources have revealed to the Toronto Sun."

Orchestrated. Gloats. This is editorializing, pure and simple.

Ford's team must be worried about the Basso article and maybe they think the Basso's have something to do with a second video of that night. It seems that Rob can't remember what he has done and when so maybe "his sources" are tipping off "their" friends at the Sun

I've heard otherwise. Two different sources confirm there's a respected judge on video allegedly consuming drugs.

Was it a respected judge, or just that douchebag rent-a-judge who Frank D'Angelo, that corrupt OPP cop and that corrupt former crown attorney (and current Lisi defence counsel) bribed? Cuz if it was that (latter) guy, things start to fall into place.

Exactly. "Orchestrated" implies that there was intent. I don't think it's ever been implied that he had a thought-out plan to get Ford high and film him and try and sell the video.

It really is magic time....
