What about the time needed to sweep up after them?

dougie a backbencher? when he could grandstand regularly in toronto city council with a live Rogers television feed and Sun and CP24 reporters waiting in the halls?

not likely

Interesting. Some people think he might go for that vacant seat in Scarborough.
Reading between the lines it sounds like Doug is running his own draft Doug campaign. One call to Worthington and now he's instantly the frontrunner. Alternately, this is a chance for Brown to float the balloon at low risk.

Still can't believe that Brown would be naïve enough to let Doug run. Brown isn't stupid and he's not panicking so he must see this doesn't fit well with the PC long game.

Yeah, he is used to commanding attention as a counciillor and mayoral candidate. Backbenchers generally don't do that. They make the odd generic speech and tow the party line.

So who says he's going to be a backbencher. According to Rob, Doug is the smartest man he's ever met. Going by that, he should at least be second in line.

Regarding police funeral expenses.

"Toronto Paramedic Services: $1,500 (honorarium for honour guard). "

The Paramedic HG was tiny in numbers compared to the Police HG. ( That's not including the "regular" police officers involved in non-ceremonial uniforms and duties. )

I would therefore expect the cost police of the police HG alone to be significantly higher than $1,500.

Anyone who has ever hired police officers for a funeral knows how expensive hiring just a couple, for just a couple of hours, can be.

Brown should read Towhey's book before accepting Doug Ford into his party.

You think if they form government Dougie will be holding private meetings with lobbyists in Brown's office without telling him what he was up to?

Maybe he will run as an independent with the tacit approval from Brown - the nudge nudge wink wink would serve both well. Brown is obviously concerned about looking intolerant and worse - but when push comes to shove, he have no trouble sleeping with the more radical elements of his party (e.g. McNaughton - over the whole sex ed thing). Maybe he'd put forth no candidate - or some sacrificial lamb one that has no hope in hell of winning.

I'm still thinking there might be a chance that Dougie will try to be Trump's running mate.

Edit: Sorry, that was a silly idea; the idea of a shit disturber that can't be directly linked to the OPC is interesting. I personally think Dougie should be made a Senator.
