Rob Ford's Toronto

Not quite what I had in mind when I wished he would gtfo. He seemed to have been seriously troubled and maybe it's for the best that he no longer has to deal with his psychological demons.

Warmington is delivering a nauseating interview right now on CBC radio.

Is he crying?

He was upset and hasn't had a chance to grieve yet. He said all the usual BS about how the media was not fair and were out to kill him. That there would be no one in the province or the country to watch over taxpayer money now that Ford is gone. And that Ford will not be remembered for having used crack cocaine, but for looking out for the little guy. He also hinter that Doug Ford would be back in council and possibly even in a mayoral election at some point.

He can be the Sun's correspondent in Washington DC should Trump get elected.

AoD

And when Trump loses the election, then what?

A fitting memorial to Ford's enduring influence.

I believe that he did love the city and his job, he was charismatic and he was a natural political bull. Doug has none of that, hence the end of "Ford Nation" is upon us. That said he didn't want to see a progressive Toronto because that's not the a part of the city that he understood. Ya know, cyclists and bike lanes, Transit City, gays & their family/friends, streetcars, Waterfront Toronto projects (even though he sat on the Board, which he rarely if ever attended), jets at the Island airport and on & on.
Much is yet be written about Rob in this thread, as more of the truth begins to unravel and trickle out in the months and perhaps years to come. We can still look forward to the crack video(s), and possibly other videos locked in some lawyer's safe too.

Genuine question: what did you find 'charismatic' about him? Many people seemed to find the same thing in the sad sack of lard.

I found him repulsive. Genuinely difficult to view or listen to when he spoke. Can you try to explain to someone like myself what drew you to him?

Fuck that. He didn't love his job and he most certainly did not love his city.

It's so true. He really truly hated being mayor.

I feel like I am in opposite land when I hear all the white-washing going on across the mediasphere today.
