Rob Ford's Toronto

Indeed. Getting sick doesn't excuse past behavior. I do very much agree that City Hall is better off with his absence, especially the efficiency of council meetings.

The Flagg brigade will demand a state funeral.

The Flagg bros can pay for it themselves. Respect for taxpayers!

While I think cancer may be taking it's toll here, I wouldn't discount the idea that Rob has also fallen off the wagon again, or maybe jumped off with both feet. He has a deep distrust of medical authorities, has unresolved drug/alcohol issues... cancer doesn't necessarily change that.
That'd make sense. They've never been shy about having him in front of the cameras when he's been sick so maybe it's something else.

Nobody is more relieved that Rob Ford appears to be out of the political picture than I am, but I certainly take no joy in the fact that he's most likely terminally ill. I lost my mother and my brother to cancer and both of them suffered terribly before they died. My heart also goes out to his kids who are probably going to lose their father soon. Sure, they've had a shitty upbringing but I can certainly attest to the fact that losing a parent is traumatic no matter how narcissistic and generally lousy that parent happens to be.

Well, as unfortunate as it maybe, it took him out of the political picture. The irony of real cancer taking out the political cancer isn't lost on me. Having said that, whatever sympathy I have for his suffering under the disease evaporates when I recall him saying this:

http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/192185-controversial-toronto-mayor-slams-obamacare

"I don’t believe in all this public-funded health care because we gotta pay for it," Ford told WJFK's "The Sports Junkies."

Ford said that in Canada, the country "can't afford" their universal health coverage.

"What you guys are doing down there, I just, I can’t get my head around it because it’s costing a fortune, and I don’t know where you guys are going to find the money, except the taxpayers pockets," he continued.

“And I think people are taxed to death, and I don’t mind two-tier healthcare; if you want healthcare, you pay for it. I understand that. And we have general healthcare up here, or OHIP we call it, but, you know, it’s gonna cost a fortune for you guys to put in this ObamaCare, and I just don’t see how the people are going to be able to afford it, to tell you the truth.”

So you know what? Poetic justice. Suck it up, buttercup. He should have went to MD Anderson if he so believes in two tier...oh I forgot, he can't get through the border. I wonder why.

Doug could be planning a FordWake fundraiser to carry forward the Dynasty, in lieu of flowers.

Followed by much wailing and brow-beating ...

Given the genetic component to cancer there's a certain dark irony to the fact that his dad is reaching out from beyond the grave to fuck over little Robbie one final time.

Don't really wanna pile on here but it certainly looks like Rob's train is pulling into Kipling Station now. On a human level, I feel genuinely bad for the old mook. Stuff like this can make any man, even a stump like Rob put his thinking cap on. But really, I'll bet he's at home, in bed, Cheezy dust & weed everywhere, tons of opioids, blow on the nightstand, mickey of Russian Prince & a shot glass, ladyboy midget porn on an 80" screen.

Who wouldn't?

Also, if RoFo *were* under palliative care, going by his record with City Hall staff et al I'd pray for whomever's assigned to him--you'd need elephant tranquilizers to keep him down.

More likely that FoFam has RoFo's regular Dr. Nick and Conrad Murray-type "professionals" prescribe as much hillbilly heroin et al as they can so he can clue out and forget. But all the same, "when the time comes", I await any reported household spectacle once they cart his body out of his Edenbridge abode...

If Rob's heading for the End Zone in that Great Football Game of Life, which I thought I'd spotted @ the last disastrous Ford Fest the day before the federal election, I most certainly hope he's not being "cared for" at home. There's not a single competent caregiver in that lot and it would be way more traumatic for the kids to have to go thru that than if he were getting professional care in a medical facility. We've seen too many examples of Rob's effect on people around him, and the process of End Game cancer can severely traumatize kids. It was inflicted on my sister and her 2 daughters when my brother-in-law decided he would die at home. I have no kind thoughts for Rob, but my sympathies have gone to Renata and the kids since long before now and will continue to do so well after the post-game wrap up.

Anyone else remembering Rob's behavior after the passing of his father's close friend, and his own political mentor and loyal defender, Flaherty?

Except that he's been off the wagon in public quite frequently ... although maybe the family is more aware of those optics now?
If he has fallen/leapt off the wagon recently I think we would have seen pictures. He is out of control when he's boozing and people seek him out for photos when he's in bad shape. I think it's the cancer that's kept him out of the public eye, I can't imagine he's boozing etc. at home. I don't think his family could keep him in the basement because he's such a mean, bossy drunk.
