I guess that when you all you have left is fear and insecurity it easy to fall into mindless rage.

Ford would have won in 2010 with ranked ballots, given that he was already at 45+%.
His issue now is that he will be hard-pressed to get to that level again - he'll need to get up there, as his "second-choice" factor won't be much for a long time.

It is a possibility but not a probability.

Probably they are upset about similar issues ('my tax dollars, schools indoctrinating our kids, blaargh') and wish they had a Rob Ford of their own*. There's one particular moron on Twitter who lives all the way out in Victoria and not only raves about RoFo, he runs a Twitter account for his chihuahua that supports Ford as well. I'm not kidding.
