Rob Ford's Toronto

i don't know if this has been confirmed yet, but i heard on the radio 102.1 this morning a caller's son who was at the Mandarin restaurant in etobicoke on the weekend who witnessed RF being told to leave because he was drunk and obnoxious.

apparently the caller's son had no idea who RF was but wanted to see what was causing all the commotion and took pictures of it.
anyone else have more info on this?

There's been an eerie lull in Ford scandals but a source tells me that something is about to hit. I'm kind of sick of it to be honest. I'd rather Ford just fell into the shadows until the election which is just 6 months from beginning in ernest.

Falling into the shadows isn't too great of an idea. If anything, Ford's doings will simply slip from voter's minds and will be more difficult to bring back. With someone like Ford, it's hard to simply accuse him of something, as he'll deny and deflect and somehow retain an air of innocence amongst some.

Pretty funny moment at the game last night – Johnny Bower was receiving a standing ovation from the crowd – and lo and behold our lovable mayor cosies up beside him and tries to shake his hand – and got booed out of the building

Then there is this:

Mayor Rob Ford threatens to publicize the names and photos of Toronto councillors who vote in favour of new transit taxes.

While the controversial issue is not on the agenda, city council is expected to deal this week with so-called “revenue tools†— taxes and tolls — which have been proposed to raise money for transit expansion.

“They want to bring the taxes forward and I’m not going to support them,†he said on his Newstalk 1010 show Sunday.

“But if they do, if they get 30 councillors to (say)... ‘We want to debate these taxes now and start implementing them on the back of hardworking taxpayers,’ my first piece of literature when it’s going out in the election is the name and picture of all the councillors that want to implement new taxes,†he added.

A threat by Mayor Rob Ford to out proponents of new transit taxes weekly on his radio show has generated another complaint to the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council.

Ford “can talk about potholes and pavement,†says Viresh Fernando, a Toronto lawyer who made the complaint. “But he’s not allowed to use the public airways to go after political opponents. He’s definitely crossed the line.â€

Whether that’s the case remains to be seen. It will be up to a three-member panel of the standards council to decide.

Of course there is, this guy couldn't keep his nose clean if his life depended on it! Seems when things slow down, we sort of grasp at straws at just how bad he is. But soon enough... :D

This thread wouldn't be 10,000+ posts if we spent our time bickering at how he words things, after all.

I dare say his first great idea was his support of a casino, but the splash pad is also good.
Two things now I agree on with the worst mayor ever. What's going on?

But wouldn't the time to suggest a splash pad be when the plans for the NPS renovations were being drawn up--not when the renovations are almost finished?

And wouldn't a water feature that people can play in demand some kind of change room? You know, the kind with lockers and showers? But wait, didn't the Fords say that showers and lockers at NPS were no good? Or are they just not good for tax-paying cyclists who work in the area?

There are ALREADY a number of 'splash pads' around city hall. The ONLY reasons that has Ford suggested this (a report to look into wading pool/splash pad) is because he is trying to APPEAR as if he is Mayor like, 'in control', 'relevant'.

The reality, of course, is just the opposite. He is the laughing stock of Canada, after having suffered failure after failure...after failure. What a pathetic figure.

Apparently, Rob Ford does not know his way around the internet. At this link, from the Revitalizing Nathan Phillips Square website, there is this paragraph:

a seasonal “disappearing” water fountain feature in the centre of the Square, which will consist of nine fountain jets providing cooling and adding a playful element to the Square, while allowing the full range of activities to take place on the Square uninterrupted.

I looked at be source code for that website, and it shows that the site was created on 05/27/11. Rob is more than two years behind, since the website would have been created after it was discussed.

The 'plaza fountains' @ NPS were working last week - not for the first time - and many people of all ages were having fun wandering through them. I did not notice the Mayor partaking ....

Now if those fountains were on the same level as Rob's car in the underground parking (and right next to his car), he might have noticed them.
