We hope @TOMayorFord will use this opportunity to reflect on past actions. We will use it to hold him to future accountabilities. Thank you.
I am so, so sick of driving past that huge Ford More Years/Ford for Mayor sign on the 400 just south of Finch.
I put a formal complaint into the City, CCed the Star.
"Hi there
I'd like to make a complaint about two election signs that have not been taken down, despite the election having been 6 weeks ago.
They are located in the rear lot of 142 Oakdale Ave. They can be seen on the East side when driving North on the 400, just South of Finch.
One is a large "Ford for Mayor" sign, and the other is a gigantic "Ford More Years" sign.
I'm looking at Toronto Municipal Code, Chapter 693, Election Signs. Section 693-9, D states "Election signs shall be removed within 72 hours after the completion of voting day".
Based on the Provincial Offences Act, the set fine for the violation "Erect/Display Election sign More than 72 Hours After Completion of Voting" is $300.
Furthermore, the Toronto Municipal Code, Chapter 693-8 states "Election signs may be erected or displayed on private property if:
(1) The signs are no larger than 1.2 square metres in area and no higher than two metres above ground level, save and except signs on campaign offices;". The large "Ford More Years" sign is much larger than the allowed size.
Based on the Provincial Offense Act, the set fine violation for "Erect/Display Election sign on Provate Property with Area larger than 1.2 Square Metres not on Campaign Office" is $200.
If an Election sign contravenes Chapter 693, Section 693-10 states that the signs will be taken down by the appropriate City Officials without notice, and the person(s) responsible for the unlawful display of the sign on Private Property pay the set fine as well the cost of removing and storing the sign. Chapter 693 does not allow these fees to be waived."

I don't wanna burst your bubble, but doesn't this apply to candidates who don't remove their own signs or also to residents who've made their own?
Burn it down.
Nah, keep it up - it just becomes more of a joke with each passing day.

Good! But for the love of God, how much grief and work have these assholes cost the city with their bad behaviour?
