Rob Ford's Toronto

You can tell from the tweets that even the players thought they were getting special privileges. Circumstantial to be sure, but it raises some serious doubts that pulling a bus out for this was necessary. I highly doubt this would happen if their coach wasn't such a high-profile individual.
Doubt? The TTC has admitted that Rob Ford called Andy Byford directly because the bus was taking so long after the police officer called for it.

I'm sure we'll eventually learn that Rob Ford told the police officer to call for the TTC bus.

How can one man be so utterly corrupt, day after day?

It's unbelievable enough that he calls (or gets somebody to call) the TTC for a bus like it was his own personal taxi service, but then to call the TTC chief to complain that the bus didn't get there fast enough? You can't make this stuff up.
This just get's weirder and weirder.

The Globe is reporting that: TTC left riders stranded to ferry mayor’s football team temporarily stranding riders in the rain.

Two Toronto Transit Commission buses dropped off passengers mid-route at the start of rush hour so the vehicles could be re-routed to a nearby football field to drive Mayor Rob Ford’s team back to their school, the TTC has confirmed.

Can't imagine constituents being happy about that at all.

Fortunately, they can be rest assured that in the distance future, Ford won't be able to get the TTC to divert a Finch West LRT train to a football field.

I'm sure the local councillors (Crisanti, D. Ford and Mammoliti) will take their constituents' concerns seriously and get to the bottom of this!

Someone on council needs to set a motion that Rob Ford cannot leave council meetings to attend to personal affairs. He can't just leave whenever he pleases. More councillors need to stand up to him and refuse to let him leave. It might be as easy as covering his seat in the council chamber with KFC grease and MSG. He won't want to go anywhere.

Rob will plead ignorance. He'll say he never heard of the motion and that he makes a point of not keeping up with council matters.

Is that what you call looking out for the little guy? I'm sure those people kicked off those 2 buses, will be happy to hear about this. Now the fact that we still had to pay for using the original bus and its driver, would that be considered gravy?

not just the G&M reporting dumping passengers ... also in the SU too:

TORONTO - TTC commissioner Peter Milczyn wants to know who ordered two buses to dump their riders Thursday and go pick up Mayor Rob Ford’s football team.

Toronto Transit Commission officials stressed Friday that Ford didn’t throw his weight around a day earlier to get a private TTC bus to transport the Don Bosco Eagles and the transit authority simply responded to a request from Toronto Police after a fight broke out at the playoff game.

Milczyn said he wants answers from the police and the TTC about who gave the order to ditch riders.

“It’s unfathomable to me,†he said. “Unless there is a real life and death emergency, why would fare paying passengers be taken off a bus in the middle of the route and the bus sent somewhere else?â€

The member of Ford’s executive committee said “on the face of it, it makes no sense.â€

“I find it hard to believe that even if the mayor called and demanded a bus that anyone would listen to him,†Milczyn said.

“I can’t imagine a phone call from the mayor would trigger dumping passengers off a bus,†he added.

Milczyn said he hopes there is a “very good explanation†for what happened.

“It wasn’t a fire, it wasn’t the evacuation of a nursing home or hospital,†he said.

Ford left city council for more than two hours Thursday to coach the Eagles in their semi-final playoff game. The game, which the Eagles won, was stopped early due to a brawl breaking out and police being called to the field at Father Henry Carr school.

Police ended up requesting a TTC bus to transport Ford’s team back to their school “due to weather conditions.â€

Mayor Ford refused to talk about the incident Friday.

“I’ve answered those questions already,†Ford said.

TTC spokesman Brad Ross confirmed Friday that Ford did leave a message on TTC CEO Andy Byford’s phone Thursday.

“The mayor left (Byford) a voicemail on behalf of the police saying they are wondering where (the bus) is and that was all. He didn’t make any demands, he didn’t put any pressure on,†Ross said.

Ross confirmed two buses were pulled off their routes and forced to drop off passengers to respond to the request. The first bus, pulled off the 36 Finch West bus, had difficulty finding the school so a second bus was sent from the 46 Martingrove route. The Finch bus arrived first and the second bus was called off.

“It’s unfortunate (we had to displace customers) but these are operational decisions we make to try to get a shelter bus there as quickly as we can,†Ross said.

“We consider them emergencies and so we want to get them there as quickly as we possibly can.â€

Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113 president Bob Kinnear blamed the incident on Ford.

“(It is) unbelievable that the mayor would utilize his influence and power to leave people who ordinarily use public transit and rely on public transit to get to work, get to school - it is a necessity for them - and for Mayor Ford to direct the TTC to bring a bus that was in service … to simply go and retrieve a football team is unbelievable,†Kinnear said.

Kinnear said he didn’t “buy†the TTC’s explanation.

“They were definitely scrambling, there is no doubt about that,†he said.

Kinnear said dispatching a second bus â€would mean potentially hundreds of people during that period of time would be standing on a street waiting for a bus that isn’t coming.â€

The live version of Nightrain from Live Era: 87-93 is wicked awesome! :D

Back on topic, I'm wondering if he pulled some strings with his friend Blair to get that bus. Also if the scheduled bus was going to be another hour, why not just simply wait inside the school? I'm guessing Ford knows that he won't be mayor by Christmas, and is pulling all the stops out between now and when the judge makes his ruling.

Nothing. I just think this photo op is hilarious, I have all these captions running rampant around in my head, most are quite unflattering.
