Rob Ford's Toronto

I know they're not but it's still nice to think about.

I'm going to go ahead and bet they are there because someone was threatening his family. Much the same as they are there to investigate a threat every time an article is printed about his lies.

I used to have a lot of regard for the Star. I also really really really hope Ford is a one term mayor, having said that there is a point where stating the obvious becomes tiresome. He has done nowt as a leader and has dragged this city through the mud, I yearn for the peace when he was away. Dignity is free and the WorldPride crew are wise to rise above the mayor's circus.
My God does anyone remember when news crews went to City Hall to cover municipal politics?

I suspect Ford makes up a lot of stuff. #documentedliar “@NatalieCTV: Police officers inside Mayor's office investigating threat" #TOpoli

haha, totally called. Lord this idiot is predictable.

Even by the dismal standards of the Fords, Doug has been unbelievable today. And lunch break just started, there's an afternoon yet to go!

While ranting about Rofo's violation of code of conduct report, he sarcastically accused Frances Nunziata of not being able to understand English; moments later, he told Maria Augimeri to sit down and be quiet.

And this is just a tiny snippet from the colossal amount of thuggery Doug put on display in council chambers.

Rather surprised that the Globe's CH Bureau Chief doesn't seem to know how to spell 'hypocrisy' or 'retract'.

Actually, it was an *amazing job*, which deserves recognition. What sweetlou and the horde accomplished was unprecedented: for the first time ever, the Fords did not control the message. It cannot be overstated how incredible - and unprecedented - an accomplishment that was.

Normally, the Fords operate like this: they use their notoriety to attract the media, who dutifully show up. They say what they want to say, which the media dutifully record like microphones. They walk away when the media starts pestering them with questions, which they refuse to answer. Their message gets broadcast, usually in its entirety, with some kind of intro/conclusion where the reporter meekly states that the Fords refused to answer any other questions. Result? Message controlled.

What the shirtless horde did was prevent Ford's message from getting out at all. Instead, the story was about the protest, the circus that is Ford's campaign, and how his sobriety coach kicked a protester. Ford's opposition to Eglinton Connects was presented as context for the story, not as the story itself!! And I single out CTV National's 11PM coverage as particularly pointed - I couldn't believe my ears.

Given that some members of the media were critical of the protest earlier in the day, I was glad to see how well it turned out. Since the average person doesn't have the same access to platforms in which to make witty, airy points about 'rippling pecs of civic outrage' or to revision the 12 steps for a laugh, I was very pleased to see that old-fashioned in-your-face peaceful protest succeeded where merely writing about outrage has failed, and that their criticism ultimately proved incorrect.

Pretty sure these topless protestors are making everything worse, not better. @jpags: full video of the Ford presser: http://www.thestar.com/news/city_ha...8/rob_ford_urged_to_resign_by_protestors.html …

@ivortossell @jpags Yes, a lot more people will hear Ford’s speech because of the shirtless protesters, its contents remains unchallenged.

Haven't read the whole Star story of the day, aren't medical records/therapy stuff confidential? I really think the Star has lost the plot, pursuing a guy into rehab is cheap and tawdry. We have 16 weeks til 27 Oct - will the Star survive with it's dignity intact? What is their motivation for continuing to agonize over our fearless leader's failings? The Ford's have become like a pimple the Star can't leave alone. C'mon guys don't get into the gutter with thug doug and his fearless sidekick SuperMayor, we know they are nuts you don't have to document it ad nauseam.
As for him not standing during the WorldPride recognition did you really expect him to? Say what you want he is predictable.

It is in the voting public's interest to have Rob Ford's lies challenged. He treated his 'rehab' as he does other perceived irritants in his life - with derision and violence (as evidenced in the article). His right to confidentiality was, I believe, waived when he reported, through Warmington, how great rehab was and how he was of great assistant to, and enjoying the company of, the captain of industry and the pro athlete he had the pleasure of rubbing elbows with whilst he perfected his coffee-making skills.

On his return to office he has consistently used his 'disease' as a crutch to prop up his lack of decency and his refusal to apologize for his racism, homophobia, etc. If his tearful apology that was foisted on us last week was based on foo-foo dust, he clearly has insulted the citizens of Toronto and, once again, denigrated the Office of the Mayor.

Two cops from 52D just left mayor's office, say complaint they're looking into has nothing to do with him.

The same can be said for The Sun and National Post in regards to their biased Ford coverage

This makes no sense. Rob Ford is still Mayor. Obviously, since that's still the case, people have not seen enough evidence that he's a monster. Once he's a private citizen again, I see no public interest in exposing him further, but as long as he's ostensibly this city's highest (in all senses of the word) elected official, every bit of dirt is valuable.Every brushstroke helps to paint a portrait. You don't stop when you have the outline, you stop when it's finished.

hmmm... no driver?
