Gooooood Evening

If Shelley Carroll runs, she better not run on a "let's go back to the Miller days" campaign. She needs to run on a platform that talks about injecting fresh ideas

Has Doug Ford crossed over from the dark side to the light side of the Force?

At the next TTC board meeting, to be held May 30, 2012, comes this request (at this link ) for a 352 Lawrence West Overnight Bus Route Extension to Royal York Road, from Doug Ford of all people!!

A paragraph in the request reads:
The offices of Councillor Doug Ford and Member of Parliament Ted Opitz forwarded a request to extend the 352 LAWRENCE WEST overnight bus route farther west, from its current terminus at Weston Road, to better serve residents and workers at the Village of Humber Heights Retirement Community complex, which is located at 2245 Lawrence Avenue West, between Scarlett Road and Royal York Road.

Instead of looping at Weston Road, John Street, and South Station Street, the night bus would loop at Royal York Road, Dixon Road, Scarlett Road, then back on Lawrence Avenue West.

Didn't Rob Ford or one of his followers say that the night bus routes are "gravy"? Did Doug see the "light"?

Isn't this in his own ward ?? .......

While Rob Ford may want to do away with the 5 cent fee on plastic bags, Los Angeles is doing away with plastic bags completely, and charging 10 cents for paper bags.
Los Angeles became the largest city in the nation Wednesday to approve a ban on plastic bags at supermarket checkout lines, handing a major victory to clean-water advocates who sought to reduce the amount of trash clogging landfills, the region’s waterways and the ocean.

Wednesday’s vote kicks off a four-month environmental review of the bag ban, followed by passage of an ordinance putting it into effect. Larger stores would then have six months to phase out plastic bags and smaller markets a 12-month phase-out period. For paper bags, retailers would be required to charge 10 cents per bag starting one year after the plastic bag is enacted.
