God, I would pay money to see the raw footage. EIGHT hours to edit together a half hour of two guys chit-chatting at a desk and answering softballs from extremely friendly interviewers? Sun could be sitting on "Ford Nation: The Director's Cut", the greatest comedy of all time!!
The raw footage will be more rare and sought after than Jerry Lewis' "The Day the Clown Cried".

No. A "sex worker" is NOT the equivalent of a "prostitute". It is anyone that engages in the sex industry.

Stripper=Sex Worker
Escort=Sex Worker
Porn Actor=Sex Worker
Dominatrix=Sew Worker
Chat Chat Girl/Guy=Sex Worker
Prostitute=Sex Worker

So using "sex worker" as a cute term for a prostitute is a misnomer and just wrong. The term is far more encompassing and I am not to blame for other people's narrow mindedness. I am just not going to handle an "innocent party" with kid gloves because if she was that "innocent" she would be suing to high Heaven by now. Problem is, you have to go into court with "clean hands". Ever wonder why Robbie hasn't sued yet? Same deal.

I am not going to kept going over this but I asked my partner if our daughter was to become a Victoria's Secret model what he would say...he would be proud. I asked him if she wore the same outfit in a banquet hall to sell tickets at a stag and I will be honest...his reaction wasn't the same.

I just watched a news video of Norm Kelly, in which Kelly responded unscripted to press questions.

Not that I subscribe entirely to Kelly's ideologies, but here are some observations:

-he's articulate
-he answers in measured sentences and smiles easily, is at ease with himself and with his interviewers -- can handle the public, no problem
-he even looks mayorish if conservative is what you're going for.

In short, this will be a welcome change from Ford, such as things go.

This whole debacle leaves me wondering all over again … I mean, we ended up with a nauseating bit of barf in the mayor's chair three years ago. How on earth does an electoral system allow for that to happen when there are actually viable people who could obviously do a decent job ?? Still scratching my head here in Cabbagetown… we seriously have to look at things post-Ford.

I know, just breathe.

Kelly was a history professor who taught at the elitist Upper Canada College (the socialite John Tory graduated from this elite institution) . Another thing you should know about Kelly is he is a longtime LIBERAL!

So what we got was a slimy smooth-talking LIBERAL elitist as our UN-ELECTED mayor!

I am probably alone on this forum by saying that it sickens me to see the shameless power grab that is taking place at city hall. I am sure that we don't have to worry about Norm Kelly (who looks like he was dug out of a fresh grave) smoking crack, getting shit-faced drunk or doing lines with attractive young ladies. What I DO worry about is Kelly bringing to city hall the culture of Liberal Party corruption that so prevalent at Queens Park which has resulted in $BILLIONS being STOLEN from the taxpayers of Ontario!

Sex worker is the preferred term for anyone working in the sex industry. That includes strippers, cam girls, Dommes, and escorts. You can still be a sex worker and never touch, have sex with your client, or even get naked. Sex worker is an umbrella term used by individuals and advocacy groups to fight for sex worker rights and reduce stigma.

But it's also up to the individual to decide how they want to be labelled. Some strippers, cam girls, and nude models don't want to be called sex workers.

It's unfortunate that A's legal name and address was made public because of the stigma associated with sex work. Even if you're accused of being sex worker when you aren't.

Thank you for making the point. Sex worker is not the same as prostitute. It is an umbrella term for anyone that works in that industry.

I don't know if the NBC interview has been posted yet, but here it is. By far the best interview I've seen so far. Wish we had reporters like this in Toronto

This is fantastic. Almost transcribed it but kept falling off my chair laughing. Inner Rob Ford starts at 3:10:

NBC Interviewer: Let's say you want to go on one of those binges on a Saturday night binges and the phone rings at 3 am and something terrible has happened in the city of Toronto, a terrorist attack, some other kind of disaster. Are you equipped? Would you be capable and stable enough to handle it?

Rob Ford: I am very fortunate that hasn't happened. It's very few isolated incidents that it's happened. [begging the question, is the "isolated incident" the "city emergency" or the "plastered"?] You're right, I am very fortunate that has not happened, but that could happen with anybody at any time. Say you have gone out drinking or you were drunk and something happened to your family - now hold on.

NBC Interviewer: The lives of millions of people [UNINTELLIGIBLE]

FORD: Now hold on. Let's say your son or daughter die in a car accident and you're blasted out of your mind at 3 in the morning. Are you going to be able to handle that?

Yes, the issue is the morality of Rob's behaviour, and not that of his female companion.

(And of course prostitution is legal in Canada, so it's not clear that even if she were a prostitute, he would have been doing anything criminal.)

Ford Bingo!

Soliciting and living off the avails are illegal.

The key issue is once again poor judgement on Ford's part, and as some posters with inside info have mentioned, the possible use of escorts for the purpose of trafficking and procuring controlled substances for him.

It's not the sex workers who've f@cked over the city but its mayor.

I wonder what's going on there, too. It's not like Lisi wanted the video for his dvd collection. Rob is the only one with a stake in getting it back.

Everyone knows it, but the TPS has to prove it to the point where the Crown says "Yes, we can make that stick. Go and arrest him".

Don't worry Peepers! He is more likely to bring a Conservative culture: Wasted taxpayer dollars (F35 and senate scandal), poor economic management (GST cut) and disdain for science!

wikipedia said:
He emerged as one of the most right-wing members of the council, most noted for his attempt to eliminate all funding for multiculturalism programs during a mock council. Kelly took this stance as he views multicultural programs to further segregate rather than integrate diverse members of the Canadian community. The National Post newspaper once endorsed him, perhaps somewhat in jest, as "a solid anti-communist. Toronto needs his representation as a bulwark against the left." [\quote]

Edit: is this VBulletein version from the 90s? Jesus.

So someone who sells condoms?
lol.

I think it's fair to count strippers, adult video actors, webcam exhibitionists and the like as sex industry workers. As for models, there's certainly some wiggle room for definition, but I'd be inclined to lean towards a sex industry association if the position requires gratuitous (partial) nudity as opposed to non gratuitous. Underwear models selling underwear? Model. Underwear models hosting your stag or poker party (or working as your "personal assistant")? Sex worker. Not that I consider the title a slam, just an observation.

I'm not sure why other folks, who otherwise seen as non-judgemental over prostitution, nevertheless feel that identifying someone as a sex worker is an insult. It's a job, not a judgement. :rolleyes:

..... Largely, Ford brought this on by his own pigheadedness and frankly, his incompetence. Voters scraping the bottom of the barrel, well that's part of it, too.
