Rob Ford's Toronto

Hahahaha… it's VODKA. Despite the ads, it's distilled spirit with no taste. Don't believe the hype...

Spoken like someone who has never had truly vile vodka before :p In theory it should just be 40% pure ethanol, but I would seriously put money on people being able to taste the difference between Russian Prince and Grey Goose in a blind taste test. The difference is largely eliminated if you chill it or when you mix it, but if you drink it straight yeah you can tell. I'm not a chemist I can't tell you *why*, but you can definitely tell.

That being said, the price difference is unreasonable. Personally I think Stoli is good bang for the buck.

Anyone who drinks vodka straight but not chilled doesn't care about the taste. Just saying'...

Shouldn't this thread be renamed 'Some Guy Rob Ford's Toronto'?
Or are we waiting until Monday? :p

Well, yeah. Getting paid to hang out with Ford is something I can understand. Work is work. I'm not even talking about anything that might have gone on in private afterwards. I'm just talking about being Ford's party companion.

O.K. I hear you - more of an escort in the true sense of the word, as opposed to an "escort" as a thinly vieled front for a prostitute. In this particular case, I'd concede that this is possible. She could also be just a college kid who would think it a great story for her friends to have partied hard with the Mayor, or a young woman turning the occasional high-priced trick to help pay her tuition.

Ford held many items on the agenda for debate and on each one is asking staff if they support the work being recommended (like traffic lights, pedestrian crossings) and how much it costs. On some of the items, the staff has said they don't support the work. Ford went on a long rant about how councilors should listen to staff recommendations and not waste money when staff doesn't recommend it.

On the latest matter, Councilor Chin Lee stood up and said that the staff didn't recommend the Scarborough subway and now the city was spending billions. ZING

I am also wondering, does he usually hold so many items and argue about the cost? Or is he trying to show how alert and useful he is today?

Sounds like he was watching his comedy show on US networks and learned about the filibuster.

why does doug ford keep calling rob's 383k votes in 2010 the largest in history? it isn't. mel lastman: 483k in 2000 & 388k in 97. #TOpoli

Cause he's a liar. In council, about 2 minutes ago, he inflated it to 390,000 votes.

Listen, neighbor, there is no reason to reach for Iceberg when there is perfectly good Stoli or Kettle One nearby on the shelf. Maybe I'm delusional but I notice significant differences in the after effect.

From what I understand - that's the type of thing Ford has done since they day he was elected to council. That's his schtick.

He's seems to like having the spotlight shining on him on money issues. Doesn't present meaningful arguments, just that if it cost money then he's against it. (Except subway, subway, subway of course.)

This is a good idea. As our own UT protest we should remove the title of Mayor from Ford's name on this thread (or add McCheese to it, whichever works).
