Rob Ford's Toronto

Seriously, for a guy known for his business acumen, does this guy have any clue about copywrite and trademarks? His bozos put the City logo on pro-Ford billboards, then he rips the logo for a multinational car company.

Correction; he's not known for his business acumen. While his trope about running city hall as a business makes him seem like he knows what he's doing, there are enough credible rumours that say the family pushed him to run for Mayor to get him out of the Deco day-to-day, as even his signing-cheques-and-doing-nothing-else job was causing problems.

Amazing low airfares to Toronto (Niagara Falls Airport) from Spirit Airlines!

Can council not create a law that says "if any council member or mayor is acting unbecoming to Toronto they can vote to kick them out in a referendum" of sorts? I'm assuming not otherwise they would've done it already, right?

Remember also that the Wynne government was democratically elected .

Tell that to Ford Nation, who still claim she's "unelected".

Seriously, we need to get serious about teaching civics in school these days, or remind people that in our parliamentary elections, we vote for parties, not individuals.

Wow, first Buttonville airport is "Toronto", then Hamilton and Waterloo airports are called "Toronto", now Niagara Falls? Sheesh. Kingston or Ottawa next?

That's a bit misleading. If that were the case, then why was Belinda Stronach allowed to cross the floor from Conservative to Liberal? Should people in that riding be entitled to a by-election?

Niagara Falls is the closest US airport to Toronto.

Spirit is the RyanJet of the US, and like RyanJet, Spirit cuts costs as much as possible. Niagara Falls International is a very cheap airport to fly out of.

Thank you! Jesus, the horrible precedent is that of an elected official with no accountability being allowed to run wild and destroy the integrity of the institution he's supposed to be protecting while everyone else stands around unwilling and incapable of doing anything. We might as well tell any person ever elected to the mayoralty from here on in "hey, don't go to jail, and you can pretty much do whatever the fuck you want."

Right on. There are new precedents being set every day here. Most of us didn't know Toronto mayors could do any of this stuff and get away with it, but apparently they can. Does City Council want to allow these precedents to stand, or reject them by necessary changes to law?

What did Wynne say? I missed the English only caught the French (because yeah, that's useful to us in Toronto. I get it, bilingual province. But do you think Cornwall or the Ottawa Valley really gives a fuck?)
