Oh dear. Well, if only THIS one ended in tragedy instead. And of course, it is no small irony the Diana's driver had blood EtOH way up there in the stratosphere at the time.

There's broad City Council support to pass Filion's motion. They've got 26 solid Yes votes and another 10 leaning towards yes -- they only need 23 votes. There's reason to believe that it could get near unanimity. The motion was cautiously drafted to give Executive committee members protection from Ford's bullying. If passed, members can resign from the Exec but still keep their committee chairs. That allows Thompson and Milczyn to resign and still be able to carry on their important work. It also gives Norm Kelly cover to abandon the Mayor and remain Deputy Mayor. Mammoliti could also now confidently jump ship without having to try to climb back in later.

Essentially, Filion's motion would leave Ford as Mayor in name only, without any more power than a single Councillor. I think everybody knows that Ford is done as Mayor and will be powerless so they're all now allowed to revert to their Councillor Rob Ford stance (nobody liked or supported him).

EDIT: Correction, Filion's motion requires a two thirds majority to suspend the rules and take away the Mayor's power. With 26 solid votes and 10 leaning to Yes, that does it but it's not a sure thing just yet.

BREAKING: Mayor Rob Ford says he has smoked crack, "probably about a year ago," during "drunken stupor."

ETA: Chalk up another lie, Robbie, although he says he wasn't lying because the reporters didn't ask the correct question.

"I don't condone Rob hanging out with people like this, and it's going to stop. It's not going to happen again." - Doug Ford

Doesn't he mean "hopefully" it won't happen again? Sure in the last year of his term, Ford suddenly rehabilitates himself and stops associating with criminals and that's supposed to be good enough? Fuck him.

I really hope this gets followed up with an emergency council session and it happens before the end of tomorrow. Who knows how long it'll be 'til Ford tries to beat them to it by firing everyone

Hey to the Ford Nation trolls that read this: Your hero just admitted that he's smoked crack, which means he just admitted to lying. You going to defend him now? You going to keep on saying it wasn't crack in that pipe??? He's a fucking filthy ass liar and you dumb ass supporters let him get away with it, and I'm going to take a guess and say that you're going to let him get away with this one too. "Crack doesn't matter" "He said it was just one time" FUCKING BULLSHIT.

Pull your heads out of your asses and realize that his politics SUCK and it's not worth supporting things like this, things that if this were a "left wing" politician admitting to, you would all call for his fucking head. Also realize that he's LIED about EVERYTHING. He's not telling the truth now. If admitting to smoking crack once while he was drunk is how he thinks he's going to get out of this, what else has he fucking done?

Sick of you, sick of him, sick of the lies.

Now we know why Dougie was running interference today. He was hoping his call for Blair to step down could overshadow his brother's admission. Motherfucker.

Thanks. Right on. Quoting you for posterity.

Wow! He admits it!!!! Now what?

I think the most important "now what?" is not to let this admission have the defusing effect it was surely intended to have. This isn't about crack anymore. Under normal circumstances, yes, a mayor smoking crack is really bad, but we left normal behind a long time ago.
