Roads: Six Points Interchange Reconfiguration (City of Toronto, UC)

The Master Contract for the Six Points reconfiguration recently closed and we are inching closer and closer to the start of construction.
The 3 low bidders were:
1. $58,375,968, Fermar Paving Ltd of Toronto
2. $62,668,484, Pave-Al Ltd of Mississauga
3. $64,133,238, Coco Paving of Toronto
These are preliminary numbers and are subject to review by City Staff.
Seeing as the project total exceeds 20 million dollars in value, it is outside of the authority of the bid committee and will therefore be considered by the Public Works and Infrastructure committee. I will be surprised if the contract is ready for award in time for the PWIC meeting on 21 November given the size of the contract. I assume the contract will be up for award at the PWIC meeting on 18 January, 2017.

Where's the Bombardier or Siemens bids?

In the 1950's and 1960's, they just built the current interchange without discussing with ratepayers or doing an environmental assessment.

I'm still not feeling this redesign. I like that Bloor and Kipling are continuous in the redesign, but I don't like what they've done with Dundas.

I would have Dundas replace Dunbloor and curve more gently into the eastern portion of it.

No going back now. It's going to congeal traffic in the area - Dundas Westbound especially.

It will be walkable..... but it's the biggest single change to an autocentric community that one can imagine.

No one will ever claim that Etobicoke gets more love than Scarborough once the construction starts.

They already started work on Kipling northbound at Bloor where the bus stop for the 45/46 is located at the loop. It was dark when I passed by yesterday but I believe I saw the bus shelter already closed to the public with pylons around it.
