Realigning the Historic Fort York Shortline

The lake/canal idea is a simply brilliant use of that footprint (much of it below the highest part of the Gardiner).

That area is pretty much a ready-made "ditch" already with Fort York at a higher grade... essentially all that is needed is a retaining wall along Fort York Blvd., a garden hose and a bridge or two.

It would do so much for Fort York. Kayaking/canoes, a few formal and informal water-features... winter skating.

Shame that such good ideas get left in storage.

As can be seen on the last page of this report the TTC are also thinking of using at least some of the space where the reproduced shoreline would go for the Waterfront West streetcar line.

The TTC seem to have gone off that idea as the Fort York folk were quite concerned about the streetcar going through their new, not yet built in fact, vistor centre. I'm not sure what the latest TTC routing is but I think it will be further away from Fort York.

^Shame, that would have been the fastest option for the streetcar, and would drastically improve the Gardiner

Not the way TTC has plan it. There are better ways and they will service more ppl.
