Jobs data released today. Ontario created 16k of Canada's 35k jobs in December. For a population of 39% of Canada, Ontario has;
46% of Canadian jobs created in past month.
76% of Canadian jobs created in past year.
59% of Canadian jobs created since swearing in.
62% of Canadian jobs created since election.
That's 50% better than the national average - but the national average contains Ontario data. When compared to the Rest-of-Canada, Ontario has created 2.5 times more jobs than the Rest-of-Canada on a per population basis.

And really, how many jobs in absolute terms are going to be created in provinces like Saskatchewan or PEI anyway? They are small populations with not really diversified economies so Ontario should be creating more jobs per capita.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford waded into American politics during a trip to Washington D.C. on Friday, taking shots at United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democratic presidential contender Bernie Sanders, while expressing his desire to see the re-election of President Donald Trump.

During a fireside chat with the Canadian American Business Council, Ford criticized Pelosi for tearing up Trump’s State of the Union speech earlier this week and said it was “uncalled for.”

“I was disappointed when I saw Nancy Pelosi get up there and start tearing the speech up,” Ford said. “It’s a real shame.”

“I didn’t like it,” Ford said. “I’ve never seen that in any State of the Union speech ever.”

As he addressed an American business crowd, Ford also denounced the “left wing” Liberal government that dominated Ontario politics for 15 years before the Progressive Conservatives 2018 victory and lamented the debt and deficit the former government left behind.

“I always say socialism doesn’t work, raising taxes does not work.”

The host interjected and asked Ford to “talk to Bernie Sanders” about the perceived negative aspects of socialism, to which Ford responded “that’s actually scary.”

While Ford reserved his praise for Trump, he confessed that he “loved listening to the president” during the State of the Union address and hinted that he’s rooting for the Republicans during this year's general election.

“We hope the election’s going to turn out the right way. Literally the right way.”

The premier’s office later sought to clarify Ford’s statement about the American President’s re-election.

“Our hope is that whatever administration is elected is business-friendly and supports free and fair trade,” Press Secretary Ivana Yelich said in a brief statement.

Mysterious newspaper ads slamming teachers' unions may have possible PC connections

TORONTO -- An Etobicoke-based lawyer is under scrutiny for his possible involvement in a number of full-page advertisements under the name Vaughan Working Families, which attacked teachers unions and stood up for the Ford government.

According to a report from the Toronto Star, one of the papers that carried the ad last weekend, invoices for the colour ads were sent to law firm Loopstra Nixon LLP – where Quinto Annibale is a partner.

In April 2018, Annibale incorporated a new business called Vaughan Working Families which billed itself as a “health care advocacy and public relations” firm on behalf of the Vaughan Health Campus of Care (VHCC).

The official address listed for Vaughan Working Families traces back to the same law firm where Annibale is a partner, and where invoices for last week’s ads were reportedly sent.

Now his PR people are backtracking on the Trump praise.

Also, I see that someone is claming that Doug Ford is a god again...
Good.
Trudeau wound up looking like an idiot in his support for Democrats in advance of the 2016 election.
If, on the odd chance Trump loses, Ford could regret this.
