Post: City to study RV park, panhandling ban

^ It actually, no kidding, belonged to old man Pallett. The Pallett name is well established in Mississauga. The family have been around for many many years. When Pallett decided in the mid 1990s that he wanted to cash out on Twin Pines (known at the time as Cedar Grove) there was quite an outcry as the residents anticipated being evicted. The property would have been worth millions as a redevelopment site. The Region of Peel non-profit housing agency stepped in and bought it, to preserve "affordable housing". Subsequently, as mentioned, a seniors' apartment building has been added.

Has there ever been a vertical RV park anywhere? (Kind of like an above-ground multistorey parking garage, I guess -- dunno.) Is that even possible?

I support bans on panhandling for all those that have a home and get a welfare or pay cheque greater than welfare and who are not buskering or attempting to busker. For example the lady who lived well who faked illness and got picked up by her son after a day of panhandling should be banned from panhandling. The disabled buskering panhandlers in Chinatown should not be banned. If a guy is sleeping on the street and panhandling because he doesn't have a home of his own or needs mental treatment he is not receiving then he should not be banned from doing so.

An RV park at Downsview, pending a better, long term plan might be Case Ootes' best idea so far. The base is near the highway, and people staying there can jump on the subway. If nobody comes to the currently unused land, the city won't be further out of pocket.
Speaking of out -of-pocket, I am opposed to banning pan handling. It's a fact of life downtown. Until the city can claim there is affordable housing easily available, I don't think it's fair to ban begging. I would sooner ban rickshaws, I've heard they do more to annoy tourists than the pan handlers. If anyone is wondering if I am proposing a 'Yes-In-Your-Back-Yard' mentality, I live downtown, near King and Dufferin.
