Pecha Kucha Toronto. Vol.2
As part of the launch of the 2008 Doors Open Toronto weekend, Pecha Kucha Toronto Vol.2 will be held the evening of Friday May 23, 2008 beginning at 7:30pm at the Royal Ontario Museum. Building on the Doors Open Toronto theme of Sacred Spaces, Sacred Circles, this will be a unique opportunity to celebrate Toronto's creative talent with design peers and the general public alike.
Together with our presentation partners Doors Open Toronto, a signature event of Toronto Culture, and the City of Toronto Festival of Architecture and Design (fAd), over 300 people are expected to attend. Pecha Kucha Toronto Vol.2 builds on the overwhelming success of Pecha Kucha Toronto Vol.1 which attracted a standing-room only of over 550 people in May 2007.
Derived from a Japanese term for the sound of conversation (chit-chat), a Pecha Kucha is an exciting, fast-paced presentation format. Ten speakers will present a slideshow of 20 images, each slide shown for 20 seconds. The result is a high-energy showcase. Pecha Kucha Night started in Japan in 2003 and now occurs in over 110 locations globally. Pecha Kucha Toronto was the first in Canada.
Confirmed presenters include Tania Bortolotto of Bortolotto Design Architect; Heather Dubbeldam of Dubbeldam Design Architects; Tye Farrow of Farrow Partnership Architects; David Pontarini of Hariri Pontarini Architects; Jonathan Kearns of Kearns Mancini Architects Inc.; Roberto Chiotti of Larkin Architects; Derrick Hodgson of MDRL Creative; Jason Moriyama of Moriyama + Teshima Architects; John Sewell; and Jeanne Lamon of the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra.
Admission is free, but get there early, as capacity is limited to 350 people. First come, first seated.
