I love all these photos! Great. I've tried to photograph many of these things before which much crappier results.

A King Street tour...

Smuncky: Good tour of King Street-one of Toronto's best known streets.
I want to mention these pics:
#4-Neat row buildings-where?
#8,9-Expressway-the Gardiner I presume?
#11-Graffiti-Life,Liberty and all that...
#19-Good streetcar pic
#29-A CIBC classic-where?
#31-St. Lawrence hall-a Toronto classic structure
#40-CIBC-Nice with the Canadian flags flying...
#41-King Street has some homeless people nowadays...
#73,74,75 and 76-Where is this RR overpass? I really like the old stonework and angles...
#78-Neat way of capturing a TTC streetcar track junction...
#82-Nice bay window row buildings-where?
Thanks in advance for any info! LI MIKE

Thanks so much!

#4-Neat row buildings-where?

King & Sumach. They look a little out place right now in real life, but will blend in better once neighbouring Corktown District buildings are finished.

#8,9-Expressway-the Gardiner I presume?

Richmond/Adelaide overpass (the section that flies over King is just Richmond). It's beside the church that has a giant sign reading "Prepare to Meet thy God".

#29-A CIBC classic-where?

King & Jarvis.

A great eye at that, well done. I look forward to your next set.

Excellent shots...love the composition on a lot of them.
I might have to get out and try some of those angles myself. :)

As always, from this photographer, a beautifully composed and refreshingly straightforward gallery of images showing what's actually there in our city - unexpected views of hidden structure, easily missed details, encounters between unruly nature and the man-made, scrawled human interventions, the ghosts of buildings past, the forlorn and the decoratively grandiose - that we may not have noticed before.

Nice pics. The tragedy though, I think, with King (and Queen, College, etc.) is that the dignity and variety of the architecture is severely compromised by the sheer decrepitiude of the streetscapes adjacent to them. It really struck me while driving along King last night, from Dufferin out to Queen and into the Beach: thousands and thousands of ugly posters, signs, and other flotsam glued and taped up everywhere, graffiti, trash, and other indications that people view the streets in this city as little more than avenues (pun intended) for garish advertising and vandalism, just an overall sense of indifference, if not outright contempt for the city and its appearance. I just don't know where this attitude comes from, and I hate the city for fostering it by never having taken a firm stand for the protection of the city's appearance over crude commercialism and opportunism.

So many people in this city claim to love Toronto, but they trash it at every opportunity, either directly by littering or vandalism, or indirectly by supporting businesses that blight the city by throwing up ads everywhere. It just depresses the hell out of me that this city has allowed itself to take on the appearance of an email inbox with no spam filter.

Why can't we get it *all* right, the buildings *and* the streetscapes that are worthy of them? Having visited Chicago earlier this month, I became almost physically ill when I returned home, and saw the gaping contrast between Chicago's mastery of that "package", to the spammed, degraded, and cheapened mess this city has allowed itself to become.

Ugh...sorry to threadshit like this...carry on...
