"In an effort to increase transparency and improve information flow, a web site containing data on public transit, parks and recreation, daycare facilities, and more has been made available for the first time in such an open way. " blogTO.com

Fascinating website, especially for UT members. DATA!DATA!DATA!

Thanks for this link. Of course, I focussed in on the neighbourhoods map, one that the city has defined that I have never heard of before. A strange map, to be certain, but it at least includes all the territory of the current city.

Good for the city. Hopefully we'll see more data available in the future.

A regularly updated database of development applications would be helpful and would be in line with what many other cities have on their websites.

GIS-compatible files of the OP maps would be nice as well.

...and join the DataTo_Org community

I wanted to make sure that folks in the UT community are also aware of the companion community site to Toronto.ca/Open at DataTo_Org.

It's a very early alpha release of the site, but we're already hosting a lot of data needs requests from the community. You can post a description of a dataset that you would like to see released in open access machine readable formats and you can comment and rate the requests submitted by others.

I'm sure the Urban Toronto community have lots of ideas, so check out what's been posted and add more ideas to the pile!
