Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 (nCoV-2019)

That’s a pretty serious outbreak in Victoria and considering Australia did a lot of things right we didn’t. Those are Quebec level numbers not Ontario.

Yet another reminder why you shouldn't book a cruise amid a pandemic.

People should really pay for their stupidity. Why the hell would someone go on a cruise now? Just stupid.

Australia declares state of disaster in Victoria, curfew imposed in Melbourne city.

Crazy how Australia calls that a disaster. The US would be holding rallies that they beat the virus.

It's rather intriguing that the outbreak is localized to Melbourne, while other regions like Perth have hardly any cases.

Dude! Perth is so lame that even the plague doesn't want to go there!

I don't know why my friend moved there...and she expects me to visit. Like, maybe if she lived in Fremantle....which she doesn't.

Antibody study in Ontario gives us a better snapshot that the true number of Covid cases in Ontario had been 160,000 or 4 times those uncovered through testing. That implies a mortality rate of 1.7 percent. That let’s us do some back of napkin calculations.

Our mortality rate is likely overstated due to the impact of LTC outbreaks on the stats. The true mortality rate could be half that which roughly aligns with the international average mortality of 0.65 percent. So if we assume herd immunity at 70 percent that means without intervention around 70,000 people in Ontario would die. Furthermore, another 900,000 or so (rate of 10%) would experience some form of health complication ranging from illness lingering beyond two weeks to permanent health damage and incapacitations.

This is generally in line with the original projections presented to the public by the Provincial Government.

Likely, some people got a "small" dose of the COVID-19. Enough for their bodies to produce anti-bodies to overcome COVID-19. See link.

Coronavirus: does the amount of virus you are exposed to determine how sick you’ll get?

"Things go better with Coke" during the 1918 Spanish Flu (sort of).

From link.

By 1903, [then-manager of Coca-Cola Asa Griggs] Candler had bowed to ... fears (and a wave of anti-narcotics legislation), removing the cocaine and adding more sugar and caffeine.

Cocaine wasn't even illegal until 1914 -- 11 years after Coca-Cola's change -- but a massive surge in cocaine use was at its peak at the turn of the century.

The Coca-Cola we know today still contains coca -- but the ecgonine alkaloid is removed from it. Perfecting that extraction took until 1929, so before that there were still trace amounts of coca's psychoactive elements in Coca-Cola.

Man, I would deffo drink that swill if they made it interesting with some cocaine.

Cocaine > caffeine

Though, I guess not as cocaine is cardiotoxic because it blocks electrical signalling to the heart causing tissue damage and death. :(

This is why we can't have nice things.

The St. Louis Cardinals baseball team has more positive cases of COVID-19:

The Cardinals and the Marlins are competing to see which team has the most players tested positive for COVID-19.

If this continues, then we could no longer get live Major League Baseball for the rest of the year. After all, it's very difficult to convince young baseball players not to do stupid things and it's very difficult to get the entire team to wear face masks during a game.
