Are you saying the sales centre for Luxe is being built on the west side of Yonge now that the one onsite is closing for construction?

The actual site that is blocked off is on the east side of yonge (where the tim hortons was). the sales center was taken down as well and relocated to the other side of the street (west side of yonge). they put in a new parking lot there as well. im in that area often, so ill take some pics to show whats going on.

scarberiankhatru: There is a difference both in intention and effect between Dia's plain, monochromatic surface ( your "flat and smooth" ) and a surface with applied or moulded ornamental embellishment ( your "pippypoo-shaped precast" ): the word decorative ( as in L' Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes, the 1925 Paris exhibition which popularized the look that inspires some of today's faux ) sums up that difference. The joyous rhythm of Dia's balcony-placement spins decorative delight out of the purely practical - without resorting to applied ornament.

Beecroft at Finch is pretty much done though not open as of a couple of weeks ago. Interchange do I get a reward for finding this for you?

There's a couple of other roads up there that are new. There's one east of the C-Condos / Continental that swings to the south connecting to Beecroft. There's another that goes from that road to Yonge Street north of the Pulse condo and south of a Shoppers Drug Mart. Pulse site was a Canadian Tire in the 70's. It also was the site of a Red Barn. Ah the memories.

Actually, I'd say that most of today's faux derives its inspiration from the Beaux Arts movement rather than the Art Deco movement. If we're talking World's Fairs, it's less Arts Decoratifs and more World's Columbian.

Except that's not a new road...it's just Lorraine Drive. I'm not sure the road going next to Pulse is a real road, it might just be a glorified condo driveway/alleyway like the one at Northtown.

The new east-west connector between Lorraine Drive and Yonge Street is called Tolman Street, although it is not posted as such yet. Coming soon to a street corner near you, I suppose...

Makes you wonder how long many of those corners will last, especially the one with Mr. Sub @ Yonge/Finch.

The Yonge/Finch shot is a great canyon effect image. You can see all the way downtown, which is nice.

NYCC sure looks more colourful with their condo's than downtown.

Tiny correction, but Grand Triomphe is actually 2 buildings, Grand Triomphe phase 2 (white crane, ~30 storeys) and Northtown Manor (yellow crane, 8 storey seniors building, if memory serves me correctly).

The brown brick church shown below the Triomphe complex is supposed to be rebuilt as a church plus a 25 storey condo.

Good lord, I don't know if living in a building named "Grand Triomphe phase 2" would be hilarious or make me nauseous. Maybe I should name my kid Grand Triomphe phase 1.

I believe Pemberton tried to include this corner with the condos they built to the east but the owner of the Mr Sub building wanted too much money. I noticed the old grocery store to the south of the corner has recently been torn down so maybe something is coming.
