I don't think this will happen.

There is a new cohort of voters who grew up under Orban while seeing what's going on outside Hungary.

They want closer ties to Europe not distant ones.

I expect you will see significant changes in the next four years.

My feeling is that we will see a complete reversal of the past 16 years.

You may also see attempts at treason charges based on the rumblings at the moment.

Orbán is definitely logging onto the Moscovian equivalent of Zillow tonight.

There were a few military planes that took off from Budapest around the time the votes came out.

Not fighter jets but VIP jets. Rumors are they were taking some of the more vulnerable cabinet ministers out of the country.

Peter Szijjártó the foreign minister wasn't seen at Orbáns concession speech. He was the one accused of giving information to Russia.

Rumour is that he left the country just as the votes came down to avoid persecution.

Fidesz knows they are likely going to have charges pressed against their members. Moreso now that Tisza has a 2/3rds majority which gives them the power to do anything.

Implicit confessions by fleeing the country like cowards are probably the best outcome. Innocent men don't flee. They'll be prosecuted in abstentia and investigated by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and will be relegated to living in Russia as wanted criminals where Putin will have no use for them so they'll get no protection or special treatment. They'll never be able to leave.

I think the same thing happened in Romania and in France. The EU doesn't like a leader and mysteriously they come up with charges against them.
Hopefully Hungary can resist the EU authoritarianism.

In this case they are not "coming up with charges".

There are legitimate grounds to charge majority of the cabinet with treason and corruption.

Trust me when I say, Hungary needs the EU.

More of your Russian propaganda. It's not going to work on anyone here. Orban should be charged with treason and given the harshest penalty they have.

Interesting to see more on Magyar coming out now and who he is. He is more like a Mark Carney Liberal, and may still be antagonistic to the EU, albeit more moderately so. He is certainly not a left-wing populist.
He is reportedly very short-tempered, and there's already stories of him screaming at staffers for any failure to do what he wants, though we all know that's not uncommon for people in those positions regardless of where they are on the political spectrum.
