Photos taken at night, but wow, am I ever impressed! Best I've seen since Portland Oregon! (Or Montreal.)

Downtown Kitchener has really come along way since my High School days in St. Marys back when it was in dt.

I used to try to avoid driving through Kitchener dt every time I visit but maybe I should stop by the next time I`m in town.

Not too sure ...

I've seen these in person, they're not so hot.

First off, I like the new lights on Yonge downtown better then these by far ... they're not bad, different.

The garbage looks better at night but during the day the shed like look isn't so great - I don't like how there's more then one box needed either.

Those side walks are very nice though.

I'm a St. Mary's alum also, though I did my first 3 years across the street at St. Jerome's. Did we overlap at alll?

I usually avoid visiting Kitchener entirely, but when I do I can't help but drive downtown, though I'm at a loss to explain why. It's getting better, but there's a looong way to go - and I'm afraid the small-time mindset is the biggest hurdle.

I disagree with the lights. I prefer the kitchener ones to the ones on Yonge.

Their garbage bins also look better than our cheap looking plastic bins.

Oh I agree the bins are better then ours ... I still appreciate the compact solution i.e. 1 bin only. But the lights? ... I dunno, they look tacky, a condo project somewhere in Toronto uses similar lights but I can't think of it. They're not grand enough in my opinion, too short. Also, I wonder if they could have got rid of the 2 lights pointing down, they aren't doing anything for me, but, they're probably necessary, But to each his own, they're both nice.

The downward-pointing lights are for pedestrians--they illuminate the sidewalk so that more than the road is lit.

Yep, I figured that much. I just like the 2 separate poles we use here in Toronto (on the small stretch of Yonge downtown) along with their shapes better.

Anyways, is that sidewalk granite?? It looks very nice.
