Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

Looks like it was gone by 2005, along with the terrazzo floor. The 2011 view is a cross between Detroit and Clockwork Orange.

VERY good description.

That modern view is unspeakably depressing. :(

Gibson Lane - formerly Rosedale Lane. One of the lost paths down to Park Road, along with the cut off Severn Street just south of it. Here are better photos of that house on the right side of the image - taken by the Department of Health, 1913.

A most fascinating and succinct addition. Thanks for digging this up AlexCorey. :)

Then and Now for April 18, 2013.

Then. BaBloor Hotel [what an awkward name...] 1163 - 1167 Bay Street, between Charles and Bloor, c1945.

"Echoes of Winston's funeral: You could imagine time had stood still... if it wasn't for the different skyline.

Striking similarities between pictures of Baroness Thatcher's funeral and Sir Winston Churchill's in 1965.
Both photographed looking along Fleet Street on the way to St Paul's.
But there have been some radical additions to City of London skyline."

Thanks, Mustapha - Excellent 'Then & Nows' of two memorable funerals.

When was the last time Toronto had crowds like this at a funeral?

Also an useful reminder that once upon a time, what's now known as the Co-operators was known as "CIA"(as in "Co-operators Insurance Association")

Does anyone here have a line on pictures of One Yonge street before One Yonge? I've always been curious as to what was there. I've searched at the online Toronto Archives using 'Quay' without result. Thank you in advance. :)
