Mayor John Tory's Toronto

I know Col. Flagg and the FF Nation is still hurting from the beating Monday night but he should try to read the articles
he posts.

I Hate The War on Mayor Rob Ford

Oooh, poor J-Lib, the council leftists are turning on him, using his StupidTrack choo-chooo dream to knock him down a few pegs. Who knows, maybe they'll find a Benedict Stintz to cut his legs out from under him, too. Tears for John Tory please, everyone.

Stay positive about SmartTrack: Tory
Don’t be a “Debbie or Douglas Downer,” Mayor John Tory warns councillors questioning his SmartTrack plan.

Tory’s executive committee got an update Tuesday on SmartTrack — the $8-billion transit plan he campaigned on building in seven years.

It's easy to maintain a 64% approval rating when you've made zero significant (and inherently polarizing) policy decisions over the past year. Tory has merely maintained the status quo (minus the crack). Lets see how fast his approval rating drops when the controversial Scarborough Subway comes to Council this fall (anything he supports regarding SSE is bound to piss off half the city), a decision has to be made on a Relief Line and the realities of SmartTrack become public.

I think you overplayed the Scarborough subway issue - nobody other than railfans cares much about it.

Regarding the council vote against ranked ballots.

He is no Nenshi, that is for sure.

The successful 25-18 motion was proposed by rookie Etobicoke councillor Justin Di Ciano. It urges the province to not allow any city to use ranked ballots -- the province quickly rejected that -- and if it is offered to Toronto, the city be required to hold a referendum first.

nice to know the province rejected it.

Just getting the job done is a lot better that say Ford who just talked big, blamed others, took pictures with people (some when sober), and I hear he also did some video work

The Scarborough Subway does not have complete funding to begin with, and so it is virtually dead. The "Relief Line" has been kicking around for decades and has become an albatross around the neck of many a counsels. It would be best to transfer at least part of the money still earmarked for the "Scarborough Subway" to a "Relief Line" and build an LRT to compliment the proposed SmartTrack. Anyway, that's all being dealt with in another forum.

He is not a lot of things, including being the mayor of another city. Tory does not have to be anyone but Tory, and yes it is true that we will see how he deals with the upcoming challenges.

On November 1, 2015 Mayor Tory was asked about a $25 million write-off of bad loans City Council will have to deal with. The mayor went on at great length blaming his predecessor and the previous council with some very strong language.
